Hello!
I am a UF pre-nursing student applying to UF's BSN program for the Fall of 2017. I haven't seen a thread for Fall 2017 applications yet so I would like to open up a discussion! Following these forums have really helped me start mentally preparing for this application process.
I hope to hear how other applicants are approaching the nursing application and attract any tips on how to create a competitive application. I've noticed that this year's essay responses are much different than previous years'. Instead of an essay topic, we have 10 short response questions. Any takes on that? Also, I'd like to meet other UF BSN applicants (transfers as well) to get a general idea of the pool this year.
Congrats to those who got in! Super happy for y'all!
I hope to be accepted into the UF school of nursing next fall, I currently have a 3.7 GPA. Any advice regarding the application process, classes, grade/GPA wise? I know the bare minimum for GPA is like a 3.8 Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
For those of you that were waitlisted:
My email says we have until June 9th to confirm our position in the program. I imagine that after that day you all may hear something about if there are any spots available to be offered to you. I also know that you can call and ask what number you are on the waitlist.
@kcove
I don't know when we start registering either, but it is bugging me too, haha! Right now I have an empty schedule for Fall and it is making me nervous because I don't want to be charged late registration fees. Hopefully they will let us know soon! I am still listed as Pre-Nursing on my degree audit so maybe when they actually change us to Nursing we will be able to. Like I said above, it will probably be in a few weeks after they have the final list verified of who will for sure be attending.
Hey! Current senior in UF's Traditional BSN program. Do not worry about registering, you will have to get use to CON doing things on their own schedule lol. But there's no rush! You will have a Fall semester schedule soon, and you will be able to register for all your classes with no problems or fees. I am waiting for my schedule as well for Fall 2017.
I know they don't give you a lot of information at first, but you will have plenty of time to order scrubs, books, shoes, etc. Do NOT buy any books now. Wait until orientation in August to see the book packages they will offer you (the package changes every year). I personally found it extremely helpful to have eBooks and order physical copies from Amazon, too.
I wish the best of luck for you guys!! It is SO exciting to be starting a program that leads to your forever career! Do not let any of the older students scare you away with saying "oh this class is SO HARD". You are capable of completing this program with great grades.
The most challenging part I feel like, is determining the type of test style your professor uses, what classes you should focus more on, and what comes to you naturally (bc this is different for each person). This will not come to you like instinct first semester, but you will be pros second semester.
Continue to relax and enjoy the summer. Don't worry about anything, cause our boy Ken has our backs and will email us promptly when new information is released.
Hey Tesriel 👋 Congrats on being admittedly to UF! I'm interested in UF's nursing program... And trying to find out more info about it. How are you enjoying the program? Are the professors good? And if you don't mind me asking, what were your stats (gpa, volunteer hours, experience)? Thanks :)
