Hello!
I am a UF pre-nursing student applying to UF's BSN program for the Fall of 2017. I haven't seen a thread for Fall 2017 applications yet so I would like to open up a discussion! Following these forums have really helped me start mentally preparing for this application process.
I hope to hear how other applicants are approaching the nursing application and attract any tips on how to create a competitive application. I've noticed that this year's essay responses are much different than previous years'. Instead of an essay topic, we have 10 short response questions. Any takes on that? Also, I'd like to meet other UF BSN applicants (transfers as well) to get a general idea of the pool this year.
I definitely agree! I am very intrigued as to why they would add this on almost a month after applications were due. Does it mean that they had too many applicants and are trying to narrow down the pool? If they were planning on doing it in the first place I am sure they would have had it due when applications were, so that means they decided to do it after receiving apps.
Either way, yes, paying more money for this application made me a little perturbed. I have not yet taken the assessment. I am a little scared regarding the cryptic wording they used in the email. I have no idea what the actual assessment is on or is about, you know? Is it like a personality test or...? Bleeeeh
I'm thinking they added it this late because they know a lot of other nurses schools give out their decisions in March/April so maybe they are trying to lower the number of applicants? I'm really not sure why they would decide on this so last minute AND make us pay. I definitely think it's a personality survey or something similar you fill out like when applying for a job. Like for example "Do you find yourself generally happy" then rate it 1 to 10 or something along those lines. I haven't taken it yet either but I'm going to put it off until I hear from other schools first because more money gives me the wrong idea from UF.

I started off as a business major my first year and swapped out to pursue Nursing instead. Didn't want to have excess credits so I just finished the gen ed and prerequisites.
I've been scouring UF's website for some information regarding the required AA degree and you know what? I can't find it anywhere. Not on the college of Nursing page, nor on the undergraduate catalog requires for Nursing either. Really upset about this to be honest....
