UF accelerated BSN 2021

Published

Hey everybody! Anyone applying for the above mentioned program? I haven't had luck finding any threads, in regard to this, for that specific year. I would like to find people who are so we can keep in touch through this process.

There has to be, I’m just afraid to overstep my boundaries ?

You can try but you probably won’t get a response ? whoever it is holding back them from sending out the letters obviously doesn’t care about the fact that we all have to find living arrangements and get our testing and vaccines done in a timely manner. It’s super inconsiderate of them.

VERY.....! I need to be able to give my place of employment enough notice to resign and for them to find my replacement with enough time to do so.

Well I mean, at this point it’s almost personal? Like there’s sooo much to be done and it seems like they have 0 regard to us and how we’re feeling, what we have to do, etc. RealiE that if it wasn’t for us emailing Ken, there’d be 0 communication from them. It’s ridiculous.

I wonder if maybe theres a higher up that we can email, instead of Ken? Like the dean?

I don't think we would get any response. It is technically start of March? though it is very unfair. And I do feel disappointed as well. It is a nice Uni, and this is just very unexpected.

Same here!! I have to let my hospital know if I’m leaving or not. And then interview at the hospital I’m looking at in Jax if I need to. Bless them for holding my interview until I know more, but it’s unfair to them as well that I can’t give them an answer.

Yeah, Ken is pretty fast at responding and really does acknowledge how stressful this time is. I know he wishes he could do more, but al he was able to tell me was that they’re doing their absolute best to finalize everything. I just don’t wanna go behind what he’s telling me by emailing someone above him such as the Dean...??

Yeah, that’s so nice of them to do that for you.

The more comments I read, the more I realize how many this delay creates different and complex situations for all of us. Also, very true about zero communication on their behalf. All the info we get is us sending emails to Ken and him being kind enough to post that Friday.

I just would appreciate transparency 1000% more than us knowing close to nothing.. if you explain that something is going on within the program or send out a formal email, I feel like we'd be so patient with them and understanding and accepting. We just were promised one thing and have recieved something entirely different right now LOL

Hope everyone’s doing well, just letting y’all know my email response to Ken which was basically the same. No new info. just that they’re working as quick as they can to finalize all decisions. I am no longer expecting to hear a response back by this Friday. I am so over this and am very disappointed in the level of disorganization and being told not this week, but next week we’ll know... It’s so frustrating to be told the same thing over and over again and not seeing the results change. Ken is super nice and I know he’s doing his absolute best. I’m sure it’s not easy for him either bec ause he sounded like he’s ready to send emails out now; however, he’s being held back by the people above him which really sucks....

Agreed he seems so nice and the other advisor has been really responsive and helpful. I hope he doesn't feel too bad about decisions not going out. Having been in the shoes of the "fall guy" at work before, it's no fun.

After we get decisions, I plan to email them to share my experience. I don't want to distract them from making the decisions and getting them sent out, but I plan to just share what the experience was like from my shoes when this is all said and done. Maybe that will help next year's applicants (I hope!)

It’s just really stressful because Ken has no other information in what is going on and the reason for why it’s taking this long. I’m sure his hands are tied and I’m sure he cannot disclose certain things to us

Yeah, I know for sure that this application cycle experience has taken a huge toll on my stress and anxiety. I know in another thread he said we may not Necessarily hear back on a Friday and that it could be sooner during the weekday. IDK about all that because it only makes sense for them to send out decisions on a Friday because you’re definitely gonna have applicants Bombarding them with emails and phone calls. Best way to avoid all that is to wait until the following week.

Current student here...

I really hate to say this, but this is an ongoing trend with UF CON especially the ABSN program.

The disorganization only starts here and I'm really sorry to see all of this happening to you all.

If I were you, I would seriously reconsider doing this program if accepted. I would definitely not recommend it. There is a good post on UF Accelerated BSN Summer 2020 toward the very end that was a great summary of all the BS this program puts you through...

If you all want certain examples then I would gladly give some.

The professors are really great (for the most part), but the admin side is very messed up. Like stated, the advisors unfortunately are the messengers for bad news, but they don't really have any control over these things.

I really hope you get some answers soon.
