UF Accelerated BSN, Summer 2018

Published

Hi all!

It's pretty early on but I'd love to meet and chat with the potential applicants for this program. I also think it'd be great to have this forum in case we stumble upon application questions and such. Maybe some successful applicants in the past may pop in to say hello as well!

What are your feelings about this program or even UF in general? Are you applying to other programs? Where are you from?

I got into the Jax campus! I'm beyond excited to start! And yes what is the costs like for classes tuition and fees?

You will receive your tuition statement at the beginning of every semester (you may have the option to view as soon as you register for a course). You're not required to make advanced payments. If you're eligible for loans this may cover your tuition.

I got in and was placed at the Gainesville campus! Congratulations to everyone else who got accepted as well, this is a major accomplishment! I am beyond thrilled and honored but will most likely be giving up my spot if I get into UCF, so those who are waitlisted just hang in there! I know of some other people planning on doing the same thing. To those who didn't get in, please don't give up on yourself! Use this time to get more experience and apply again next year, just don't give up.

For future applicants looking at this thread - my UF GPA was about 3.85, pre-req GPA was 4.0, and science pre-req GPA was also a 4.0. I had a lot of volunteer experience as well! Congrats again and best of luck to everyone in their future endeavors!!

If you don't mind me asking, what would be your reasoning for choosing UCF over UF?

Hey!! I just sent you an email!! Just letting you know!

I don't mind starting a FB group for the Jacksonville students! If you want to email or reply back with your names I will add you! My email is [email protected]

Congrats to those who were accepted!

I got a rejection, but honestly, UNF is my number 1 choice. It would have been nice to get in at UF in case I don't get accepted at UNF, but I'm not really upset in the end. Just means I have to do well on my UNF interview. (Tho I'm also curious if it was my personal statement or the personality test that knocked me out.)

Good luck everyone.

I am sure you will do great in your interview! Just believe in yourself!

Jax Peeps! Let me know if you're looking for roommates!

I got accepted to the Jax campus! I am absolutely thrilled!! I've been trying to get into nursing school for a little over a year now. To those that did not get accepted; do not give up. The denial you received says nothing about your ability to become a nurse. I'm confident that everyone that applied and received the personality test would make a great caregiver. I had to fill out several applications and wait the grueling wait we all just experienced a couple of times before I found my home. You just have to find your home. Good luck in your search.

To those that got accepted to the Jax campus, I'll see you in May! Go Gators!

Did not get in :( This is really tough for me because my circumstances in life are not really easy and is extremely complicated as well. I guess I will continue to pursue getting in somewhere else in the fall etc. I do want to ask those who got in, what were your credentials?

My Last 60 credit GPA and prerequisite are around 3.7

Only problem is, my prerequisite GPA is probably noted around 3.4 instead because I am currently taking 3 prereqs as of now. I feel this could have been a factor. Also, most of my ECs revolved around what I did as a premed, and could be an issue? I am an older applicant and I simply do not have the leisure to do whatever ECs I want etc.

I want to know what I can do to boost my application for other schools I guess. I am very passionate about going into nursing to workin the rheumatology field, so this is extremely disheartening to me. I have mid terms next week too lol.

As for GPA, I have nothing really else I can do. I graduated from my university with premed courses under my belt, and currently taking some prereqs for nursing at a the local college here (santa fe). I also have some upper level science stuff I did well and got As (chem, organic I and II etc.)

Any of you guys been rejected and tried again and got in this time? Any suggestions such as doing more hands on clinicals?

I am currently thinking about getting a CNA license to just work and work on applications since I have nothing else I can do currently unless I decide to just go to graduate school.

I still have tons of schools to apply to, but UF acceptance would have really helped me so much financially since I live with my brother here who has disabilities. But I won't give up applying to other schools.

Also, one reason I applied to UF was they didn't seem to require exams such as TEAS etc. would you guys suggest me taking the TEAS for a wider application possibility? Not sure if I will be able to take the TEAS and apply by deadlines for fall. How difficult is it and how long does it take to study?

I'm a member of the been rejected club. I got accepted this time but I have been trying to get into nursing school for a little over a year. I understand the feelings you are having right now; I've been there. All I can tell you is keep going! This is just one school. If you want to be a nurse; you will be a nurse. You just have to find the right place for you.

As far as taking the TEAS, I would recommend it. Many other schools require it in the application process. I did not find the test to be difficult but I would recommend doing a few practice tests that you can find online. That should give you a feel for how you would do and whether or not you need to study for the test. Good luck to you! Keep persevering!

@healingtouch0915, it was most likely because you didn't have most of your prereqs done. Usually schools only allow you to have only 1 missing.
