UF Accelerated BSN Fall 2012

Published

HI:)

I am an undergraduate student at UCF right now and will soon be graduating with my degree in Psychology. I am applying to UF's Accelerated BSN program for Fall 2012.

My first year of college was brutal! My first semester I made 4 Cs and 1 D. My second semester I made 2 Cs and 3 Fs. I had to retake the 3 classes I failed over the summer and I made 3 Cs. So... it has completely ruined my GPA. It seems like no matter how many As I make it barely brings it up.

But, thankfully UF only considers your most RECENT 60 credit hours towards your GPA. This is so great because my overall GPA is only a 2.6, but by the time I'm done taking classes my most recent 60 credit hours GPA will be around a 3.7-3.8.

Is anyone else suffering from a year of bad grades like me?

I wish every other school only considered your most recent 60 credit hours. UF seems like my only real hope to be accepted, but at the same time it's UF... not the easiest school to get into.

I RSVP'd yes to UNF. I can't believe the letters haven't come yet. I didn't try to call Ken- the RSVP was due by 8am today, so I would have had to get my letter Saturday for it to matter... I think that it was a really good choice though. (I also don't think it would be impossible to change my mind if I really needed to, but not planning on doing that).

Good luck everyone!

Good luck to you in your program. I saw you are also considering the midwifery track. That is one of the main reasons I applied to UF. Let me know how you like your program :) my email is [email protected]

Thanks! Good luck to you too :) I hope everyone gets good news tomorrow!

Not in my mailbox yet! Sweating bullets! I'm really hoping to get in for me and my son! I love UF! But, I can see that this applicant pool was VERY STRONG! My GPA is 3.6 I got 148 Quant 154 Verbal and I had like a 3.2 or 3.3 pre-req average...My stats aren't that great but, I can write like no other! I love to write! So, I'm hoping that my essay convinced them of my determination and desire to get in! *crossing my fingers. I'm optimistic :) But, I wish you all the best! It should be in my box by 4:30 PM and it's 3:45 pm right now

So I stalked the mailman but no letter lol. Why does this take so long? I live like 3 miles from UF! :crying2:

didn't come for me to gainesville or miami. Tomorrow it is. :/

I called the Post Office today to see if I had mail there that would not be delivered to my house until tomorrow. The lady I talked to explained that the CON may have sent out our letters on Friday, but sometimes schools/agencies send their mail first to a "mail stream" that can serve to get the letters ready for mailing, and then the mail stream sends the mail out to the Post Office. So, while our letters may have left the CON on Friday, they may not be sent out from this other place right away. She also said that once the letters are sent from the mail stream place, they are sent out from the Post Office on the day they arrive, because everything comes in the morning and is sent out with the carriers in the afternoon. So, as soon as the Post Office gets them, we will get them later that day. This made me happy to know.

None of this is certain! I have no idea if UF actually has a place they send the mail before it's sent out to the Post Office or if the letters actually went out Friday, etc. I'm only posting this because it seemed like a good explanation for why Ken said the letters would be out Friday, but we may have to wait so long to get them. I thought some of you might be interested.

Good luck to everyone! I know the anticipation is driving me crazy!

i cant even believe our mailman is not here yet...its almost 5 pm

@ lily.dove thanks for you research...it will possibly keep me sane if it doesn't get here today

i have never seen so many people on here before...27 online readers!

Thanks so much for posting that info lily dove! I was wondering if it was something like that. I live in Gainesville and have not yet checked my mail but it's not looking good if no one else in Gainesville has gotten anything.

(Finally posting after weeks of lurking) . . .

I have been waiting with as much patience as I can, but I have to admit, I was really hoping that we would find out today! Unfortunately, no letter for me (in Newberry, 15 miles west of Gainesville).

Thanks to all of you for the information you have so generously shared during this process, since I expected that we would know something by the end of February (O_o), and have been alternatively optimistic or pessimistic, depending on the day!

SURELY, our letters will come tomorrow, and many of us will have exciting news to share with each other! Good luck to everyone!

Stats: MS GPA: 3.8, Pre-rec GPA: 3.9; GRE Verbal 170, GRE Math 162
