2014 UF Accelerated BSN Applicants

Published

Hey y'all! Who's applying to UF's ABSN program? Go Gators! :)

MYarr, I didn't get in either, but am petitioning. You should petition as well! If it doesn't work out, there's always next year :)

Ali, I'm petitioning as well. Good luck!

Random possibly dumb question, is our upper-level GPA equivalent to our last 60 credits(GPA)? Or is there another way to calculate that? I want to reassure myself that I have a good chance.

Yes, last 60 credits.

I mean how do.i calculate the number? I want to be sure i have the right numver in mind

They take the last 60 hours of undergraduate. If you're like me and took all of the prerequisite courses post-undergrad, then those don't calculate into the 60. I found that out yesterday. That's a separate category.

I graduate this May, so my pre reqs are not included, even if they're in my last 60 as an undergrad?

Nevermind, I believe I figured it out. For the current UF students, I think it's your upper-level gpa. I pretty much got the same number

First off, congrats to everyone getting accepted! For those waitlisted, many of the students currently in the program with me were initially waitlisted, so don't lose hope! I'm still surviving off of Florida Pre-Paid but I think I heard somewhere that the program is approx $20k, but don't quote me on that. Anyone have any questions for a current ABSN?

Did you work during the program or know anyone that did? I;m trying to see how feasible it is to do so. Also do you know of any scholarship opportunities aside from what UF offers?

I personally did not but I know a few who did. Some were part time, some were weekends only, some "PRN"/as needed, and I think someone actually worked full time. It is feasible. The first semester is by far the hardest, so don't be discouraged. You will learn all the basics in the summer in a very short amount of time. You will also likely pay the most money (books, especially) that semester. You learn all your real skills and practice on *real people* (!) in the fall, second semester. After you get through the summer, it feels like you can do anything. I have a lot of free time right now

Also I know of a few scholarships but they are only offered through UF. I didn't really qualify for anything so I didn't pay too much attention, sorry :/

Hi there, has anyone received their packet from UF yet? I sent my form in saying I am attending and now I'm just waiting for more info.

I think we are to expect them early next week
