  1. Keep searching as "clinical nurse resident" or " clinical nurse internship." Things will eventually come up! You have plenty of time!
  2. Very basic questions like "why nursing", "why Baptist" and few behavioral questions. It wasn't hard and HR is very nice and comforting. I actually just accepted a Pediatric GN program at another hospital, so I will be withdrawing from Baptist.
  3. Hi! If this is an interview with HR or a recruiter, this is what happened for me: bring all of your required documents! License (if available), BLS, 2 letters of rec, and degree. I was told I didn't need it for the interview by one person and then was asked for it-but it's okay if you don't have it right then and there, you would just have to give it to them when you do. My interview wasn't very long, basic questions like "why nursing" "tell me a time when..." and so on. Then was told about the program. Also, don't forget to SMILE! My interviewer noticed that was the first thing I did and is one of the reasons I moved on to the next round. My interviewer then gave me info about what to expect next and some helpful tips to overcome the internal fear of interviewing with a possible 16 people! I hope that helps and good luck! If you have any further questions, feel free to PM me :)
  4. @ wayemika, I love pediatrics. I've attempted Shands but with no luck, so I think my time in Gainesville is over-which is okay. 5 years is long enough :)
  5. I haven't seen any currently, but here's a list of all the HCA hospitals in FL. There are quite a few in Broward and in Miami. Find a Florida Hospital | HCA Florida Hospitals
  6. I'm not sure on the exact date, but yes, it is in March. So far, I've had a phone screen with one HR representative and then had an in-person interview with another HR rep who will determine if you go on to the panel in Jan.
  7. Also just to clarify, the interview I had with HR was for the Versant Program for Baptist South Florida in Miami.
  8. Hi! The one at UNF is Baptist Jacksonville, not the Versant program. I'm actually going to be at UNF tomorrow also! From what I've read about Baptist Jacksonville, it's very non-traditional. More like a speed dating type thing. If they like you, you move on to the next round. I could be wrong, but that is what I've read from this year's summer cohort. You can PM me if any other questions, since we're both going tomorrow!
  9. Probably not. I went to UF's nursing school and had some clinicals there. I was more of a fan of the food and free parking. The specialty I would like to be at is also not offered there.
  10. Thank you! I believe I applied Dec 7th and they called me on the 11th.
  11. Ah okay. Well sometimes you need to give a little to get something great! You will find something, but as someone with no experience, I've learned that being picky will not get you far. If I wasn't picky at the beginning, I probably would be working already! But anyways, a lot of those places, especially in Tampa have colleges such as USF around and will have apartments for cheap or live with roommmates. That way you won't have to worry about rent too much if the pay isn't exactly what you imagined. There are a TON of StaRN programs in that area, (St. Pete, Tampa, Bradenton, Brandon, Trinity, Tarpon Springs, etc). They are all neighboring cities. There is also an opening for a grad program at St. Anthony's in St Pete (also within Baycare). They do not offer peds but they have pretty much every adult floor you can think of. Also Florida Hospital Tampa has a GN application up and you have until Jan 6th. If I see anything else, I will try and keep a lookout for you and update on here.
  12. Thank you! It was with HR and I made it to the second round: A panel interview with 8-16 managers (yikes!). HR told me that these managers are from all over but I'm not sure about specialty. I made it known what I was interested in, but I said I was flexible to commit to med-surg as well. Baptist South is a really awesome hospital and I don't want to pass up the opportunity even if it's not where I exactly wanted.
  13. Yes, it can be exhausting and I hope we both get great news soon! According to the recruiters of that particular staRN, I did not get offered a job because my resume had majority peds and they did not offer peds at all within the hopsital. So in other words, they did not want me to be trained and then leave, which I guess is understandable, but it was all based on an assumption, which was very frustrating. But anyways...I must have missed that you are from Maryland. What about John Hopkins or hospitals around there? I'm not too familiar with Maryland but I know it's smaller than FL so it must be more accessible to try other states? I wouldn't make any moves until you have something secured. I think they would understand if you suggested an interview via skype? I've seen it happen so it's not impossible. I'm driving all over FL and complaining about gas lol so I can understand that flying out is undesirable, especially around the holidays. Have you thought about a bridge program to become a BSN? I know a lot of hospitals are trying to obtain magnet status and hire BSNs.
  14. Also for the east coast, I'm not sure how far south you are willing to go. I only really know what's in Fort Lauderdale and Miami.
