Hello guys, I'm a prospective applicant to the above program and wanted to create a place for us to come together and discuss any concerns we might have. I am applying to the Gainesville campus and have a 3.6 undergraduate GPA along with a 94.8% overall HESI score. I earned a B.S. in Psychology from UF and wanted to pursue a career in research in this field. It did not take long for me to realize that medicine and helping others was my true passion. Best of luck to you all!
Hello! I recently found this thread and am so happy it is out there. I applied to the ABSN program and wanted to include my stats as well. I am really excited that decisions will be out in late February as I originally thought they would be out in mid to late March.
pre-requisite GPA: 3.52
upper division GPA: 3.92
HESI: 86.4% composite
critical thinking: 920
I wish everyone the best of luck! ?

Hi Joslyn! Which campus are you applying to? End of February can't come soon enough!
Hi everyone! I'm so glad this thread is here! I applied for the 2023 UF ABSN program for the Gainesville Campus. It's been nerve-wracking waiting to hear their decision! A little about me: this will be a career change for me—I'm currently working as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in private practice and before that worked in many different roles in both community mental health and in a private residential facility for people with trauma and substance use. I'm going into nursing because it's always been something I've wanted to do and I also want to be more hands on in the work I do.
My stats:
Undergrad GPA: 3.96
Grad school GPA: 3.96
Pre-req GPA: 4.0
HESI A2: 96.3%
Critical Thinking: 1000
I've been a volunteer at a hospital ER since last May and recently got my CNA license and hope to work in that role soon—part-time or PRN. I worked on those essay questions for about two months!
Good luck to everyone!
Hi! Anxiously waiting to hear something, too!
I got an email last month that I had calculated my GPA wrong but that the admissions committee decided to still consider me. I don't know how to take that, but I'm guessing the fact that I took all of my prereqs post grad had something to do with it. My undergraduate degree was subpar, but that's what trudging through an engineering degree you have no interest in will get you. (The general slogan of my program was "C's get PE's!”) I got all A's in my prereqs, minus the very first class I took where I was learning how to balance school and a demanding job. If I don't get in anywhere this round, I plan to retake it, but I did the calculations and it only marginally boosted my GPA.
I found the essays relatively easy, and I wrote straight from the heart. I was able to relate to a lot of the questions based on my job experience and volunteering. I'm pretty actively involved with various marginalized groups, which is where my passion lies, so I tried to show how that translates to nursing. I've also 'been through a lot', which undoubtedly shaped my viewpoints. For my letters of recommendation, I had my human development professor write one for me because, of my prereqs, I feel like the format of the class allowed the most interaction and wasn't just "a+b=c". My other letter of recommendation was written by a critical care nurse/CRNA student. I wasn't sure what they wanted out of a personal letter of recommendation, but I figured someone who is in an intense grad program would know what makes someone successful in the field.
Anyway, if I don't get in this round anywhere, I'll try again. Besides retaking the class I didn't do great in, if anyone has any suggestions or insight, I'd love them!

Hi everyone! This is my third time applying to the ABSN program. I was accepted last year, as an alternate, but had to decline the spot due to not having funds to move back to Florida at that time.
A little about me: I have a bachelors in Liberal Arts and am working towards my masters in Health Education. I worked in medical records for ten years. My cumulative GPA is 3.67 and my prerequisite GPA is 3.57, and my HESI score is an 85% with a critical thinking score of 840 (recommended 900).
As you can see, some of my stats are pretty good and some okay (CT score), but I was able to secure the alternate spot in Gainesville last year.
This is my final year to apply. If I get in...yay! If not...oh well...it wasn't meant to be.
I wish you all the best. All I can say, is that applying and seeing who got accepted and who did not the last two years, shows me that they really do take a holistic approach when looking at our applications.
Best of luck to you all!
(Also, this is the least active post that I've seen in the last three application cycles. Each year these posts seem to have less and less activity. It just makes me wonder if interest is waning in the field/program/school...which might be good for you and I!)
