Nursing Students School Programs

Hello guys, I'm a prospective applicant to the above program and wanted to create a place for us to come together and discuss any concerns we might have. I am applying to the Gainesville campus and have a 3.6 undergraduate GPA along with a 94.8% overall HESI score. I earned a B.S. in Psychology from UF and wanted to pursue a career in research in this field. It did not take long for me to realize that medicine and helping others was my true passion. Best of luck to you all!

Hello.

I am in the application process right now but am definitely struggling through the essays. I seem to be repeating a lot of information between the different prompts. Any advice is appreciated!

Hi! I'm also struggling with this. I've been trying to use different key points from the same situations to tie it all together! Hope that helps!

Does anyone know the admission statistics? Also, what would a good HESI score be?

I too am applying for the 2023 cohort. First time applying to a nursing school as well. I read the threads from 2022 and 2021 cohorts on here. Seems people who think they are overqualified or even have above average experience for not being a nurse aren't chosen. Kind of kills my excitement for the process.

Anyway, enough glass half full, about me:

Have a BS in healthcare management with GPA of 4.53.

I have been working on my pre-reqs. Currently in AP2. Microbio w/lab will be Spring 2023. (Even though (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) says it's not a big deal....I am still nervous that I won't actually be done with my pre reqs when the applications are actually looked at)

Experience in medical field as a caregiver at the age of 21, for quite a few years.

Have been in the medical field, as a hyperbaric Safety, Program and Technical Director since 2015.

I have presented at conferences for research I have conducted, as well as published a couple papers in medical journals. All things I didn't think I was ever capable of.

I have not finished my NursingCAS app yet. I am stuck on the essay part. I can write about others VERY well...just not about myself.

Nervous for the HESI A2 exam......practice tests online I basically fail.

Any tips for the HESI A2 exam, as well as essay writing would be greatly appreciated.

I too am struggling with the essay.

I was told for the HESI people shoot for at least a 75%.

Also, where on earth do I go to schedule the HESI A2 exam?

How are you formatting your essay? I know the instructions say keep the numbered questions and your answer for each question should be no more than 300 words. I deleted the instructions from the top and left the numbered questions. Wondering how I can make it look better, formatting wise, before uploading it to my application.

has anyone taken the HESI exam yet? Are we provided with calculators and equations? How long have you guys studied for it?

From what I hear...you have a simple on screen calculator.

How long did you guys study for the HESI exam?

You do not get formulas but you do get a calculator on screen.

I took the HESI on Friday 11/11. You get a calculator on screen for the entire math portion.
