Hey all!
I wanted to start an offical thread for those applying to UF's accelerated BSN for the Summer of 2021! I know its still pretty early but I thought we could use this platform to support one another and share our own journeys through this process.
I am pretty nervous for this process. However, UF's hollistic approach toward each of its applicants gives me hope and reassurance.
Just a little about myself
I am currently finishing my last semester at USF. My last 60 hr credit GPA is pretty average as per UF's usual standards standing at about a 3.4. My cumulative is not too great so hopefully I am not penalized for having a low overall GPA. I have research experience and a publication to my name so hopefully that may hold some weight. Besides that, I have a lot of various volunteer experiences that are non-health care related.
I was specifically curious to know how much weight health care experience holds for admissions. I worked as a scribe for about one year where I was able to gain perspective into the nursing field eventually influencing my decision to pursue nursing. Besides that, I don't really have very much experience working directly with nurses or CNA's for that matter.
I was also curious to know more about the HESI A2 test if anyone knows more about that.
I would love to hear about everyone elses stats and experiences, how you are going about the admissions process in general.
Good luck to everyone applying this cycle!

Good luck to you too!

Hey Lauren,
This thread has really good information, check it out everyone!
I spoke with ------------------------- and he said we will not hear anything back today, but we will be notified sometime next week. He also said they look at everything as a whole and they do not emphasize on one area more than the other. They look at all our documents as a whole. So if you feel like you’re weak in one area, but strong in another, it still gives you a chance. He doesn’t know how many people applied for this cycle from the top of his head, but he said they admit 72 applicants in Gainesville and 40 in Jacksonville. Hope this helps and solidifies the number of people admitted.
Ugh he said sometime next week, while means Friday next week. He told someone else we will find out this Friday or next Friday. They do it on Fridays at the end of the day because I’m sure they don’t want to be bombarded with calls and emails. Thanks for the info! I’m disappointed but the rest of what you said makes me feel a little better.

Me too.... I’m so bummed out ? But, at least we get to enjoy our weekend a little, right? I was hoping real hard that they accept 100 applicants, but I’m not going to complain too much because Jacksonville is only offering 40 seats which I’m sure is real stressful to know. Oh man.... Can’t believe we have to wait another week, this is gonna be the longest week ever. I dunno, I personally don’t have a good feeling for myself and am trying so hard to be strong, but I cannot help but to think the worst and being denied for the second time. I’ve looked over my application a dozen times and I believe that I’ve done my absolute best. However, I don’t if “my” best is good enough for their program...... ?
I'm really hoping hes just saying that to get us off his back and maybe have us calm down by saying its not gonna be today ? Thats a bit ridiculous if its next week ngl, those that are accepted need to find places to live and figure out arrangements ASAP. I really hope its still today.

I agree with you, all this waiting hearing back for UF and UCF is really delaying things such as living situations. Im getting really frustrated with the whole situation because of the May 10th start date, it really doesn't give us much time. I've gotten an offer at another nursing program, so I am waiting to hear back from UF and its really just delaying everything :(.

10000% know your situation. What other program did you get accepted to? I'm in your same boat.

Oh wow that’s where I’m from. Yea that’s is a hefty deposit. UM actually is actually #1 in the state for nursing I believe. However, the tuition is absolutely ridiculous and the cost of living down there is going to be 2-3 times that of Jacksonville or Gainesville. It’s a phenomenal school though. My dads a huge Miami fan, but all the rest of us are Gators. Have you decided what you’re going to do yet?
