UF ABSN Summer 2021

Published

Hey all!

I wanted to start an offical thread for those applying to UF's accelerated BSN for the Summer of 2021! I know its still pretty early but I thought we could use this platform to support one another and share our own journeys through this process.

I am pretty nervous for this process. However, UF's hollistic approach toward each of its applicants gives me hope and reassurance.

Just a little about myself

I am currently finishing my last semester at USF. My last 60 hr credit GPA is pretty average as per UF's usual standards standing at about a 3.4. My cumulative is not too great so hopefully I am not penalized for having a low overall GPA. I have research experience and a publication to my name so hopefully that may hold some weight. Besides that, I have a lot of various volunteer experiences that are non-health care related.

I was specifically curious to know how much weight health care experience holds for admissions. I worked as a scribe for about one year where I was able to gain perspective into the nursing field eventually influencing my decision to pursue nursing. Besides that, I don't really have very much experience working directly with nurses or CNA's for that matter.

I was also curious to know more about the HESI A2 test if anyone knows more about that.

I would love to hear about everyone elses stats and experiences, how you are going about the admissions process in general.

Good luck to everyone applying this cycle!

I know Lauren applied to the Jacksonville campus and she said they accept 40. As for Gainesville, I think ------------------ said 100, but please don’t quote me because I could be incorrect. I met with ------------------------ sometime last year, so it’s been a minute.

So hoping it is today!! Good luck to everyone, it will be a long day and then an even longer week if it isn’t today!

Does anyone know how many are admitted to each campus? It isn’t on their website, and I haven’t been able to track down a number.

I know Jacksonville is 40 and I’ve heard 70 or 100 for Gainesville. I’m not sure.

Thank you, Lauren. ?

I know when I received my rejection email 2 years ago, it was sent at exactly 4:43pm. So if we do find out today, it will be at the end of the day.

Does anyone know what their average applicant pool is? That’s one thing I’ve been wondering and can’t find anywhere at all. Like the number of applicants or the acceptance rate.

Your guess is as good as mine. I’m not sure myself either, sorry.

I’ll do a little digging around and see what I can find myself and will let you know. ?

Alright ya’ll, this is it. Today’s the moment of truth on whether we know today or next Friday of our admissions status. Even if some of us are not admitted today or next Friday, don’t stop. Keep working hard and keep pushing forward because someone will say yes. Just keep banging on that door until someone lets you in. It’s okay to be down about it, but don’t be down there too long. Pick yourself back up; dust yourself off; and get back in the game because each and every one of us will become an extraordinary nurse. If I don’t get in, I will let you all know and will be of support if needed by those who are also not admitted. I wish everyone the best of luck and for those who are admitted, go and become badass nurses and represent everyone in this discussion board.

Awww that is so kind. I'm 100% with you! No matter what happens, we will do great things and can support each other along the way ?

Absolutely! We’re all gonna be okay, I’ve got all your backs. ?

At least a class size of ~140 between the two campuses gives a lot of space!

I am a student athlete, and next Friday I have a UNF interview and the first game of my senior season, so if we don’t find out about UF today, next Friday will be one of the most stressful days of my life!

Try your best to keep your mind occupied on something else and focus on what’s in front of you. Sit that anxiety down in the corner and tell her to zip it because you got some work to do and you cannot let her drag you down.

Hi! Kianna told me it was 40 for Jax and 70 for Gainesville.

Woah, I was hoping Gainesville was 100..... ?
