UCSF New Grad RN 2015

Published

Hey everyone!

I noticed there wasn't a thread for people to discuss upcoming interviews for UCSF New Grad RN program.

I'm interviewing for the ICN on 9/2. Does anyone have any insights into the interview process or have anything else they want to discuss?

Megora- I did precept there but not in that unit. I interview next Friday.

Hi norcalgurl, RN! Congrats on your interview in the birthing center! I applied to the perinatal program - is that the same thing? Just wondering, did you have a clinical at UCSF? I'm still holding out hope for a call but I think they may have scheduled all of their interviews. Anything else that you could suggest that may have helped you stand out? Thanks! :)

Hi rturnerRN, yes I applied to the perinatal program. It was the only one I applied to and It's the same thing as the birth center. I heard they were scheduling interviews for this wk and last. I hope you get called for one too. I don't know how many are interviewing or applied. Maybe someone else has that info....?I did not do my preceptorship At UCSF nor did my friend who also received a call for an interview for that unit. Good luck!!!

I'm not sure if someone has already mentioned this... HR only found 12 eligible applicants for the adult cardiac ICU, and there are only 4 slots open for the unit.

hellobee, how did you get that information? did you call a specific HR number? would love to find out that info for the unit i'm interviewing at. thanks!

norcalgurl, I got the info from my friend, who works at UCSF and knows the Cardiac ICU manager. Good luck to you!!

Btw, I thought I'd mention this too...UCSF just posted another new grad position for the Radiology/MRI dept. The application is due Sept 7th.

I just got a call from UCSF 12 Long Unit which is their orthopedics/spine surgery unit. Luckily, that's the unit I did for my capstone. Just wondering for those who finished their interview, did you guys bring a portfolio with your resume/cover letter and stuff? The lady said I don't need to bring copies of the resume, don't know if i should bring my cover letter and reference letters from my clinical instructors. I don't want them to think I don't follow the directions or anything like that....

I was told not to bring anything. I did bring a copy of my certs, resume, etc. anyway. When I got there I offered to give it to them, but they refused, saying they couldn't accept anything.Maybe it's policy...? I know Stanford didn't allow us to bring anything for interviews either. I'd advice not to waste your time/energy. GL!

For anyone who is interviewing at peds med-surg, were you requested to bring anything?

Hellobee,

Does HR actually answer that questions if you call and ask? I would love to find that information out for the units that I am interviewing for!

Nevermind, I just saw your reply :)

Norcalgurl,

Interesting, it must vary from one unit to another. I received a call today from 9L (transplant) and it was from the NM. She told me to bring extra resumes and "whatever else you would like us to see"
