Hi, I searched for a thread for the UCSF MEPN 2021 cohort, but did see any. I hope this help. I am looking to apply for the CNM/WHNP speciality. I wish everyone one of us all the best n our application.
Hello everyone,
Hope applications are going well. I am currently in the first year of MEPN, on the AGPCNP tract. Feel free to ask me any questions or reach out. You all got this! I remember checking allnurses every day the month that acceptances were to be mailed out. I applied with a few years of healthcare experience and an imperfect GPA. Be true to who you are and you'll set yourself up for success.
Hi everyone,
I am just finishing up my application and I submitted my Goal statement and realized there is a typo in my essay. I tried to remove the file and replace it with a new one but I can’t figure it out. Do you guys know any way to remove it?
If I upload a new document will it show in my application that there is two goal statements or will it re-place it?
I tried emailing -----------------------, but he hasn’t gotten back to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @sc1234 thank you! How is your first year going so far? It's my understanding the the first year workload is quite intense. Would you agree?
Separately, what were your "few years of healthcare experience" like? Trying to get a sense of what they're looking for in terms of previous experience.

Hello @lagranhermana
This first quarter is extremely intense. It is very fast-paced and little to no breaks. Tests are taken on Sunday's so there are no real gaps when it comes to new information. The hardest thing is not studying but learning when to give yourself a break. In undergrad I often felt like "when am I going to need/use this information". But with MEPN everything feels extremely important and necessary to become a competent nurse. Students who have just finished their first year always tell us that material is repeated and not knowing everything we learn within 10 weeks is OK. I do really want to know everything we are taught at a high level, but it is not realistic in the short period of one quarter.
I worked as a CNA for three years, primarily in the long-term ward. However, I would switch over to rehab often. I worked two years part-time while I was in school. Once I graduated, worked full time for one year. I then moved to Santa Barbara and worked as a scribe in a vascular surgery office for another year.
Just a bit of unsolicited advice, try not to compare yourself to current applicants or previous ones. I am guilty of this and it's hard to not see the person who got in last year with a 4.0 GPA with amazing work/volunteer experience. I applied to UCSF with what at the time felt like a faint hope of getting in. But I had a real passion for serving the geriatric population, which I discovered while working at the SNF, and I was able to express that in my essays. The biggest advice I can give to anyone applying is to be genuine and trust yourself as an individual. Good luck and when you submit your app reward yourself because it is very hard and stressful!

Hello @Dera
To be honest I am not too sure. If it were me I'd try to reword some things and trim it down a little. I would definitely defer to ------------------------ on this. Sorry, I don't have a good answer for you. I also had a really hard time fitting in everything into two pages.

I asked this in the info session this past week and ---------------------- said basically they strongly prefer 2 pages because they have to read so many and he added that if a paper is slightly over 2 pages, it can probably be editted down. It doesnt seem to be a hard limit though, so if you feel like it's all very relevant than maybe try using 11.5 font? The guidelines are pretty loose so I feel like you could get away with going a little over if it's a really good paper

I was wondering how long your personal statements are? Is there a specific length they should be.
Working on submitting everyting and am worried mine is a bit too long!
