Well done, @Flo1820! Did you feel like 45 minutes was a long time or did it fly by?

UCSF MEPN 2021
Congrats on getting it done! Glad to hear it went well and that your interviewers helped facilitate a comfortable environment, I was hoping this would be the case. What speciality did you interview for? Fingers crossed for you too!

I got an interview too! I got an email at 3:42 with the decision. If you log into your application, the decision is there as well...

Thank you @sc1234 for your thorough response and for your reflection on your experience with the application process and being in the program so far. I can't speak for everyone on this blog but I definitely appreciate you taking the time from your busy 1-st year MEPN schedule to support us in this process. Good luck to you!

UCSF MEPN 2021
Hi @sc1234 thank you! How is your first year going so far? It's my understanding the the first year workload is quite intense. Would you agree? Separately, what were your "few years of healthcare experience" like? Trying to get a sense of what they're looking for in terms of previous experience.

This is wonderful, thank you so much for your thorough response. I am a clinical social worker so my background is in therapy as well. When I emailed ------------------------- about which psych course he needed and told him what my master's was in, he pretty much said that they'd have no issue finding an acceptable course on my transcript. As an MFT, I imagine it'll be the same for you. Best of luck to you!

I had a similar question a few months back and ----------------------- responded right away. I had a class called "human behavior in the social environment" and sent him a description of it, which he approved. I think anything with "lifespan development" will also work. Psychology is so broad, I think most, if not all psychology courses should theoretically work. I am also applying to the PMHNP program, assuming I can actually get the application together in time. I hope this year works out for you! What do you feel like helped you land an interview last year?

LCSW AND PMHNP - questions!
Hi there, Thanks for bringing this up. I got my MSW in 2015 and have been working as a psychotherapist in New York and California. I am looking to apply to a MEPN program to become a PMHNP. From my understanding, full practice authority varies by state. Here's a good list I found: https://www.nursepractitionerschools.com/faq/how-does-NP-practice-authority-vary-by-state/ I took most of my prereqs at Johns Hopkins online because they're approved by UCSF where I plan to apply. I completed them fairly quickly and didn't find them exceptionally difficult, while working full time. I think it'd be pretty easy for you as well, since you mentioned that your MSW program hasn't been very difficult (mine wasn't either, heh). Good luck to you! Really look forward to others chiming in who are/have been in similar positions.

Got it, thank you! Did you use roughly the 2700 allowed characters? It seems a bit excessive, considering that most of us are also mentioning this experience in our personal and goal statements.

UCSF MEPN 2021
Did you try just to uploading it? I was able to get all but 1 official electronic transcript so I just uploaded it straight to the application under "Education."

Hi there, I am wondering the same thing. Should we be writing several paragraphs here or just outlining, resume-style. Thanks and good luck to everyone!

I am a psychotherapist (master's in social work) in private practice and I also work a few days a month at a psych hospital. I graduated a long time ago and I don't have any academic references, everyone I can get recommendations from are therapists in the field. So I don't know if that's an issue since from what I understand, recommendations is what they look at the most. I'm really excited to be doing this but am quite concerned about not being a strong candidate, so I'd love to hear from those that were accepted last year!
