A place for individuals applying to the UCSF 2018 MEPN program to contact each other, share information, support each other, and provide advice.
Hi everyone, long term lurker here haha. Just wanted to say it was such a pleasure meeting some of y'all yesterday during the interview and the meet n greet!
Now that we are past the hard stuffs, I wanna wish everyone the best of luck! Like SJ mentioned during the preview, no matter where we end up next summer, keep working hard and follow your passion :)
I chatted with SJ and he said they will deliberate starting next week, and he expects we will have results in by 3rd week of February. We will get an email that says "Your application status has changed", we will log in to the application site and see the result.
Hope this helps!
Good luck to all of us. How many of you met a Ladle and Leaf? Sorry I couldn't make it - I had to do homework for other prereq classes :|

Just to add to this, some of us were able to speak to SJ between the morning and afternoon interviews on the 26th and he said that the admissions committee is currently scheduled to meet on February 9th. They will deliberate for 10 hours like they did the first time with our interview invites with 3 representatives from each of the respective departments i.e. Family Health etc to decide who the incoming MEPN Class of 2018 will be. We can expect to receive a change in status to our application portal around February 16th but to be on the safe side, he said that it will be more likely the week of February 19th before announcements are made.
They invited a total of 100 applicants to interview. They expect to increase the size of the 2018 cohort from 65 to 70 so there should be around 70 MEPNs for the incoming class of 2018. The first day of orientation for the 2018 cohort has been scheduled for June 25th so keep that date in mind.
Hope this helps. Good luck to everyone! We are in the final stretch!

Thanks for this! Great info and that means our chances are pretty good to make the programs. Hope we all get what is truly the best for us!
Anybody else reviewing their interview in their minds and obsessing about the answers you weren't as happy about????
Yes, HORRENDOUSLY! I go back and forth between thinking I did great, we had a great connection, my interviewers seemed to like me, aaaaaaand thinking about how I failed to say basically anything I meant to say, did not answer questions completely, and worded some things very poorly I realize that for a number of questions, I was probably supposed to list multiple things (how will you deal with the stress, what are your strengths), and I just picked one thing and monologued on it. I literally only gave them one strength! Hopefully though they have been doing this a long time and know how to tell more from an interview than just how "well" someone performed.
I am surprised to hear you guys were told 100 interviewees, I could have sworn on the 19th SJ said 115-120. I hope your numbers are right :) If anyone has any more deets on the number of PNP interviewees and spots I would love to obsess over them :)
Good luck to everyone, and I hope you all have really good distractions for the next couple weeks!

I will put more stock in your numbers yawp, I got 100 from one of the posters who was told on her rejection letter for interview. If the total number of MEPNs have gone up to 70 this year, 120 seems like a more realistic number, since they generally invite twice the number of people to interview that they can accept.
But keep in mind that MEPNs do not get all the open slots, some are reserved for the direct entry nurses whose application deadline is Feb 1st. For example, this year there are around 16 spots for NM/WHNP but of those 16, only 10 will be for MEPN students while the remaining 6 are for the direct entry master's students.
Also some specialities will have more candidates in total. For NM, I was told only 20 MEPN applicants were invited to interview for the 10 MEPN spots so they invited exactly 2x the number of applicants for interview for the spots they have available. This means the remaining 100 applicants are spread out among the other specialties and could have different ratios.
