Hello! Does anyone happen to know when people on the waiting list typically get updates? I know acceptances/declination were to be turned in last week.

Thank you!

My friend who was wait-listed last year was notified that she was accepted on the 14th of March. Best of luck to you!

Hi there, @Nyandika! I have a similar question. I am hoping to apply to this Fall for PMHNP, and am unsure of how my experience will compare. If you don't mind, I would love to hear your thoughts. I have my masters in Psychology, and have worked in research for 3 years. I volunteered in a UCLA Psychiatry lab researching HIV and marijuana, doing neuropsych assessments. Then, I was hired onto a UCSD Psychiatry study that involved diagnosing mood disorders, and worked with a Psychiatrist and Geneticist. I now manage a research study at the VA hospital in La Jolla that involves diagnosis, neuropsych assessment, and providing individual therapy and coordinating care with MDs and NPs. My direct supervisor is a Psychologist and the Mental Health Section Chief. I have experience leading self-care classes for women transitioning out of homelessness, group therapy for women struggling with domestic violence, and bedside activities for inpatient veterans with Delirium. In the past I have worked as a coordinator for a busy primary care office. I also have presented a few psychiatry research posters at nationwide conferences. I'm wondering if this experience and background, and good GPA will be enough to outweigh my low GRE scores. Any thoughts?

Hi there, you are definitely a solid candidate for the program and I am 99 percent sure that you would get in based on your experience and exposure the the underserved population and working with NPs. If you could come up with a strong personal history statement plus your good GPA then all that will make up for your GRE score. GRE is just part of the process. You your chances look really good.

The GRE was a requirement for our cohort, but I believe ours was the last. The GRE is no longer required for MEPN according to the UCSF website. I'm happy for everyone that doesn't have to take it going forward because the GRE was long, dreadful, and expensive.

Hello!

Incoming MEPN here. A question regarding cars: how important is it in the first year to have one? I do have one, but am moving to the city to an area where parking isn't readily available (which I do realize is kind of a thing here). I am considering leaving it back home and just using mass transit. Any insight as to the wisdom of this? Thank you!
