UCSF MEPN Applicants for 2010 entry

Published

I thought I would start a new thread. I've read quite a bit of the activity from previous classes and I thought it would be great to get a community of support started for those who have applied for UCSF's MEPN program... not just for us now, but for the future applicants who will read our posts! (: (the added bonus is this thread will be in gender neutral territory ;)

Would love to hear the stories of folks who are applying to nursing programs (UCSF and otherwise).

Thanks!

I received an email from the office did anyone else?? It seems that it may have been emailed to several others so I just want to make sure. Please let me know- thanks!

OMG, I was so anxious that I didn't read the postings, so Lindzer you got the email too??? It is definitely a bizarre way to find out, but i'm guessing it's safe to say we have been accepted?? wow, I'm shaking in my chair!

Gudlife. I know. Seriously shaking here too, about an hour ago. I'm having a hard time saying to myself that I'm in. Like, there's no mistake? Are you sure UCSF? But I think we're in! Now I'm wondering if I can quit some of the prereq classes I'm taking for other programs! Do we need Public Speaking for anything? To take the NCLEX or something? So many questions....But Congratulations! I"m in the ANP specialty.

OK, I have not been writing much but I have been reading and thanks to all those who've been keeping all of us in the loop and keeping UCSF on their toes! I got an email as well that said

" it is my great pleasure to inform you that you have been recommended by the screening committee and we fully intend to offer you admission to the 2010 MEPN cohort."

I'm nervous to believe it's true... but it sounds from the other posts like it is as close as you can get to a real acceptance??? I hope so!!! I'll be in the FNP track. Looking forward to studying with you all!

WOW so there's at least 3 of us who received that email, with those exact words ...I'm also scared it's a mistake and I haven't been able to fully feel that crazy joy I expected to feel! I emailed them back just to make sure, but I guess I'll have to wait till tomorrow. My specialty is also ANP. Lindzer, I think you should talk to them about prereqs just to get the right info. Congrats to everyone!

:):):yeah:

Hi; I just joined the message board to share my good news!!!

I just received that bizarre email that looked like a rejection letter at first but ended with the great news that I have been recommended to the 2010 MEPN cohort by the selection comittee and will receive my formal letter in days! What was once a distant vision and impossible seeming goal has become reality! I am so humbled, excited and proud!

Congratulations to all and I look forward to meeting you all in June. To those who didn't get in this time--please keep trying--I've heard that if you even make it to the interview, they want you there and are impressed with you.

So excited; flushed; stunned; and still in disbelief.

BTW-my name is Jonathan and I will be in the ANP track with a specialty in HIV/AIDS

for the record, I received that same "unofficial" acceptance email after hearing over the phone.

At some point; we should create a 2010 MEPN Facebook group or something to stay in easy contact--if anyone know's how to do that

Hey Everyone! Congrats to everyone that heard good news today. I've been accepted to the Perinatal CNS Specialty. I looked at the email on my phone and stopped reading it part way down since I thought it was just a "sorry that its taking so long". I just re-read the email and woo hoo!

Anyway, I'm not sure I will be accepting admission. I also got into UCLA and Columbia and I just don't know if I can go to UCSF and end up in a specialty that I'm not set on. So, maybe good news for some of the wait list people... however, I think I'm one of maybe 2 or 3 people in Perinatal, so I don't know how that affects the wait list for some of the bigger specialities.

Hi! I received the email as well. I'm accepted to the FNP track! Now I have to make a decision...I'm choosing between Columbia and UCSF. Congrats to all!

Yes! I think a facebook group is in order...there are so many of us now, it's getting hard to keep track! And sandman-none of this 80/20 stuff.. i expect to see you there in June!! It's UCSF, common on!! :)

I'll take the lead on the fbook page (because I'm addicted anyway). Details to come later this morning.

Sandman, your ambivalence is highly disappointing. Like mpcali said, It's UCSF!!!!!
