Hi everyone! Just thought I would start a forum for those who applied to the UCSD New Grad position for this upcoming March. Leave a comment if you applied!
I have my BSN and passed the NCLEX recently. I applied for the last application in October and did not get referred but I did this time. I know many people from my class who were hired in October before passing the NCLEX. From what I've heard, they like when people had an internship in your specialty, related volunteer/work experience, or just some kind of effort (certifications) to show you're really interested in your chosen specialty. Some people I know had externships at UCSD but not all.

This is great insight! Personally I didn’t know anyone who has applied before. I’m from the Bay Area. I’ll be graduating with my BSN in December. Im interested in NICU so I took a STABLE class and got certified. I also am precepting in NICU for my capstone class. Before going to nursing school I worked in healthcare field for about 5 years, 3 of those being in the hospital setting. I hope this helps for next round for anyone who wasn’t referred

No I’m not licensed. I graduate in December.

I am also graduating in December, no license yet. I think referred to hiring department means your application is just forwarded to the units for further evaluation. It’s still hard to say what they’re looking for. Best of luck!
