Hi!! I wanted to make a group for new nurses who applied to the fall residency program at UCSD. Applications opened 06/27/2022. Comment if you applied!

I got my BSN in July from an accelerated program and had my preceptorship at Rady’s CTICU. I also have ACLS, BLS, PALS, and NRP because I was applying to both CTICU and NICU. The biggest thing for me was that I applied for the ucsd nicu externship earlier this year and got experience on the unit!
Does anyone know if those who interviewed and did not get the job will be informed if they’re deciding to not move forward with us? Has anyone unfortunately got a rejection letter? I’m afraid I’m waiting for nothing haha, I rather be told I didn’t get the job to sooner accept it than to keep wondering /:

I have no idea. From all I know is that they interviewed last week from Tuesday to Friday. They might keep interviewing if they need to fill more spots for like L&D who had a lot of openings

Okay, I’m still holding out on some hope for L&D! Trying to be positive

I did--I just got a call asking if I had a preference for the ED in La Jolla or Hillcrest. I'm not sure if that's a good sign, but I was told that they'd let me know "soon" or "this week" and that they're just "finalizing placements". I was so nervous, I can't really remember what was said verbatim. For reference: the last of my references were completed on Saturday around 9pm.
I don't want to get my hopes up, but I hope them asking for my location preference is a good sign unless they're asking everyone... Back to being anxious.

I think tomorrow or Wednesday we should be hearing something....today lots of finalizing decisions and letting HR know who they picked and then if you are ADN but working on BSN higher up managers are reviewing your school info and finalizing decisions as well...

What’s your stats if you don’t mind asking? Like experience or anything else you think helped you to get an interview? Both La Jolla or Hillcrest would be great opportunities for sure!

I had a preceptorship at UCSD in L&D, passed my NCLEX, took the MNNC course, and got my NRP, basic fetal monitoring, and ACLS/BLS. A nurse on the floor told me that if you don’t have a preceptorship in L&D, they just want to see that you have a passion for women's health and used the example of volunteering as a Doula to be a more competitive applicant.
