Hello Everyone,
I noticed there was no forum for UCONN CEIN 2020 entry. I wanted to start one for the accelerated nursing program. A little bit about myself: I have a BA in chemistry, overall GPA of 3.5 and am still finishing up a microbiology and statistics course this semester. I just submitted my application this past January for stamford and waterbury campus and am still waiting to hear back from them. I would love to hear from others about their experiences on this application cycle. Please feel free to share as much as you feel comfortable.
Good luck everyone!

Should I take this as a likely rejection?
“The Admissions Committee of the Accelerated Second-Degree CEIN/BS program at UConn has reviewed your application for the January 2020 cohort. The pool of applicants for this cohort is very competitive. At this time the Committee has decided to hold your application and will make a decision in August 2019. Thank you for your patience and your interest in this program.”
Thanks
I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing! It’s not a “no”! Although it’s super vague and confusing. I applied mid June and still haven’t heard anything, but I also didn’t get that email either. So maybe they’ll be sending out more decisions this week since August is practically here? All of this up in the air stuff is definitely frustrating, but i know it’s just a part of the process. Can I ask when you received that email? Was it recent? Hoping for the best for us all!

Yeah it’s frustrating. And I received this email today.

I got the same email back in January! And I was accepted at the end of May! Do you have a prereq that you are still finishing up? They might just be waiting for a grade! I sent in my grade immediately once they were posted and they sent me my acceptance that same week

congratulations!!
when I sent my application I completed all my prereqs?just waiting for august to come...!
For those who are planning finances for the program: do you know when we should/can start filling out the FAFSA application? I realize it's kind of unique to start in January...I imagine we didn't miss the deadline if people are still waiting to hear back (goodluck to everyone!!)
I also have read that most people do not work while in the program - does anyone plan to try? I was thinking of waiting to see how the first semester goes before I try to pick up any side hustles haha!
Heard back this afternoon! I got accepted into the Waterbury campus! Super nervous, but very excited. Can’t wait to meet you all!
@jlm6317I’m not sure about finances yet but I definitely plan to apply for FAFSA. As for working - I’m a CNA at a local hospital and plan to work but I’m gonna go per diem. That way I can still keep my place of employment but only have to work a minimum of two shifts every six week period. I know they don’t recommend working during the program but money is kind of a necessity. So we’ll see how it goes! I heard that the first semester is the toughest!

That's a very good question. I would imagine that we haven't passed the deadline for FAFSA, because like you stated not everyone even knows whether they've been accepted. I've also been curious as to when we should actually complete the application.
I was thinking maybe once I receive the information with student id and so on I would go ahead and do the fafsa. Due to how busy it is at this moment with the application process it's not so easy to get in touch with someone in the office for our program.
I'm not sure how the working will go for me. I'm a CNA with an agency per-diem, so maybe I'll pick up a shift here and there, but doubt I'll be committing to any schedule. I also have a 2 year old so I couldn't imagine working even part time in addition to that.

Congrats!!! I'm the same right now, having a mixed bag of emotions. I'm nervous, because I don't quite know what to expect. On the other hand I'm very excited because this is my dream...I've even started looking up and buying supplies ?.

You can start your FAFSA application online. It will cover Fall of 2019 and Spring 2020. You won't get an award until you register for classes but at least it is one item of paperwork that you can get out of the way.
