Internal but haven't had any activity with my application. I applied for NICU AND PICU .

I wondering if being an internal applicant is a disadvantage??

I applied to NICU and PICU. I just got an email Thursday that my application was sent to the hiring manager!

I feel like everyone in this thread applied to NICU.. They will only take two at Ronald Reagan and I think one at Santa Monica. I had no idea so many people were competing for a spot in NICU..

it's California , I would believe everyone applying to residencies here already knows spots are limited and competitive. that's not really new info 😅. The thread's more about sharing support & uplifting each other than pointing out what we all already know .

Good luck to you 😊

How do you know how many people they're taking per unit? I want to find out for the OR spots

I don't know anything about the other units, I know some new grads who are currently in NICU so I know the process for that unit a little bit better.

What is the process for Nicu?

Where does it specify the specific spots for each unit? Apologies in advance if I overlooked

It doesn't - I have friends in NICU so they told me that they hire two new grads in each cohort. Other units may have more or less.

Of course it's competitive - I guess I'm just surprised that there isn't a wider variety of units that people are interested in. So far it seems mostly NICU, PICU, OR and a couple of CTICU. I was just expressing my surprise.
