UCLA New Grad Summer 2012 program

Published

There's about 6 of us on here that got asked for a second interview. I don't believe any of us have heard back yet and I think it'll be a few days until we do. Don't know how many med-surg nurses she interviewed but I guess they have to go through all the same training and classes to work in ICU, even if they have experience.

thanks for the feedback - the process seems so disjointed and I can't help but think that I would have done so many things differently. I am trying not to be OCD on it, but would like to know so I can schedule the travel

on ucla job posting- theres two CNII positions open for NTICU, so i'm assuming those are the positions she's interviewing medsurg nurses for.

I called the UD and left a message today. no word yet.

Please post if you do hear from her and/or how the M/S nurses fit into the picture of New Grad program - I do remember her saying she had "experienced M/S nurses" so I just can't see how "experienced" and "new grad" go together .....thought you had to have under 12 months to apply to the program and that doesn't seem experienced to me.

Did anyone else interview for PICU yesterday? I felt it was a pretty tough interview!

Anyone else interview for the CCU/ICU at SM???? Any idea how many spots are open? How many got interviewed?

@ BritRN24

I had a friend who interviewed for PICU too and felt like it was hard. good luck. will you have a second interview.

Has anyone heard anything from CTICU yet?

anyone who interviewed for the liver transplant/SICU hear back yet?

PICU felt rough! I felt like I wanted to stay longer and sell them on my abilities to work in their unit but they were pretty strict on the time of the interview. They quickly went through my portfolio and asked me some of your basic nursing interview questions. They were really impressed at the fact that I did my preceptorship at the PICU which I think helped my cause. I hope all of us allnurses PICU interviewees get bumped to the next round

They only interviewed 10 people yesterday for the NICU?

I am assuming around that number or not too much more than 10. I saw a list (that also had my name on it) and I am assuming it is the names of all the people being interviewed for that day.

Like I said in my previous post, I am just not sure if they were only interviewing people for that day or if they are still interviewing for the rest of this month as well. Not too sure.

From my own thought, I really think that if we were all asked the same questions, they really are looking for somebody with "personality" that fits their unit because their questions were pretty basic and more of "get to know you" more type of questions and not necessarily "senario" or "what would you do if..." type of questions.

thanks for the feedback - the process seems so disjointed and I can't help but think that I would have done so many things differently. I am trying not to be OCD on it, but would like to know so I can schedule the travel

travel?? where are you coming from?

@illsince83 I agree, in hind-sight I wish I could have sold myself more! They also asked questions I was not expecting! I did my preceptorship in peds med-surg and I think they would have rather that I did it in PICU so I am sure that will help you!

@ BritRN - A fellow BritRN? Sweet! I hope you did well on your PICU interview - I hope everyone did well for that matter! I had my interview today for the Cardiothoracic Unit. I think it went really well, but it is always so hard to tell with these interviews. Good luck to all of you - we all deserve it.
