Hi I recently applied for the Spring 2024 cohort and didn't see a thread yet. How is everyone's application going?

I just got an interview email for OR in SM. Did anyone else got one? also how do you prepare for this interview this is my first time apply UCLA  O.o

I'd also like to know! Like I know that getting this interview is great and all, but is it a good sign xD (IDK how to form this question without it sounding dumb ahaha)

This might sound a little dumb.. but I actually don't remember which unit I actually applied for... ?There were multiple units I wanted to apply for so I applied to different units for different hospitals. Is there a way to check on the application?

Don't think so but I wouldn't stress it too much. If/when they interview they tell you the unit and it's totally possible despite whatever you applied for you get an interview with another unit.

has anyone heard back from any pediatric units?

I just got an interview with 5W acute pediatrics at Ronald Regan!

Anyone have any updates from the NICU? Anxiously waiting ?

I applied to NICU too and haven't heard back... Hopefully we get updates soon

Got the email today for an interview in liver transplant floor, does anyone remember how many times slots there were? I'm guessing that's how many people they will be interviewing.

not to be creepy but I remember your account from the CHLA Nov post...I was wondering if you applied for their Spring cohort for next year

Dang exposing my failures?! (I'm just kidding) haha. Yeah I did! I'm applying to all the new grad programs, which all start around Feb/March

LOL I recognized your name too haha. Have you applied to other places besides ucla and chla? I'm looking around for new grad programs but haven't seen much besides the two. I keep checking miller website since they said they'd post in October but nothing yet and also checking choc but haven't seen anything upcoming

Gosh I should stop stress-commenting xD

Yeah so I'm currently applying to Cedars-Sinai, VA Hospital (unfortunately it's for adults), CHLA of course, and Northridge Medical Center with Dignity Health. I know that Providence and Kaiser have upcoming applications I believe next month??? But yeah, at this point, it's kinda a waste to be looking for a filler job since everything is starting pretty soon so like I'm just gonna wait it out until I get one of these positions

Haha, it's kinda nice to see a familiar name in these forums LOL it's like an old friend. But oooo. I hadn't even considered VA since I want peds but that could be a cool place to work for a bit and then try to switch to somewhere with peds. I remember looking at dignity listings but a lot of them are a little out of the area I want to work in LOL but maybe I might as well try to apply. Do you mind me asking if you're an in state graduate? I'm out of state and at infosessions they say out of state doesn't matter but IDK LOL sometimes I wonder if it is hurting my chances haha

It's that trauma bond that we're forming - except it's for the people who were rejected xD

Yeah I'm an in-state graduate, but don't worry - Los Angeles is an oversaturated place of nursing students. You got CSULA, CSUN, UCLA, COC, AV College all putting out nursing students. You of course got the private schools with the massive cohorts. Los Angeles doesn't really have a lot of hospitals that accept new graduates without the residency, so like we're all struggling out here LOL. It's just a matter of putting your application out there and/or get med-surg experience until you can simply just transfer into a hospital. OHH I also forgot about the Versant USC residency that I'm gonna check out as well! If you're looking for somewhere a bit closer, I also applied to PIH Whittier, PIH Good Samaritan, and St Francis Medical Center in Lynwood. These places certainly aren't as fancy as Cedars or UCLA, but they're good places for nursing experience, which is very valuable ?

Congratulations to everyone who has received an invitation to interview. I received mine this afternoon for SM5NW (Geriatrics). Does anyone happen to know the culture of that unit? I know I can ask during the interview, but I am hoping to hear from someone who works there as a nurse not as a manager. Also, does anyone know how much we pay for monthly parking and/or union dues? Thanks guys and good luck!
