Hello to all prospective UCLA Nurses!
My name is Matthew and I'm a CSU Long Beach alumnus.
I'm currently working as a Super User RN for the UCLA Health System.
I hope this thread will be able to answer our questions about the application, interview process and a place for any updates anyone receives for the 2013 new grad program.
With that said, I was told by recruitment that applications will be made available in March. :)
Just out of curiosity what sort of questions were asked during the first and second interviews? :)[/quote']Tell me about yourself. Why nursing? Why ucla? What professional organizations are you in? Do you subscribe to any professional journals-if so what was one of the last articles you read. Strengths/weaknesses. How do you stay organized? How would your friends describe you? Tell me about a time you displayed leadership in the clinical setting. Tell me about a difficult patient you had. Future goals. Clinical questions about a rule out MI and GI bleed-prioritizations, what you'd expect to see, what you'd do. Conflict.
Just got a call from HR to come in for fingerprinting next week because this is the next step in the process. I was so excited I never clarified if that meant I got the job or not.I interviewed twice for SMH for the NICU.
When I interviewed for the first time at the HR office, two people in front of me had driven 6+ hours to be there, and they got fingerprinted on the spot. I asked why and the lady said that if they were chosen for the next phase of the hiring process, they wouldn't have to drive down for 'just fingerprints'. I took this to mean that getting fingerprinted outside of this situation means your not hired, but your just moving on. Maybe background checks at this level have weeded people out before.
Still its an awesome sign for you, and now I have my phone by my side lol. Keep us updated.

BorgQueen You are absolutely right ! I did my fingerprinting immediately after my interview , i didnt ask why but i guess its b/c i flew in from md.
But i think those getting calls for finger printing at this point in the game cld definitely be a good sign , or else why wld they call you to finger print ( after the interview and reference stage) , if they don't want to hire you ... im just saying...
So congrats Lakergurl08 and all those who had calls...
BuT for REAL can they START MAKING DECiSION calls already ... patience is runnin out !
