  1. Thank You JeanOfAllTraits !!!
  2. Hey guys thanks for your feedback. But honestly im more confused than ever reading your responses. I'm thinking "To take LTC job off resume or not ??? I dont know... I never thought this would be me almost a year after graduation ...**Sadface***
  3. Hey guys, Let's talk,... Seriously ! I graduated may 2013 and have been seeking for a icu job eversince. Matter fact EVERYTHING i did starting from my senior year in nursing school untill now has been geared towards improving my candidacy for icu. Here's a few; -Clin tech job (Check) -ACLS, BLS, EKG tech, IV Phlebotomy skills (Check) My clin tech job was at a transplant floor and i couldn't even get into the icu at that hospital (Long story ) Now i've been working at a skilled LTC nursing home for 3 months and the moment i mentioned that to the last recruiter that called me for an icu internship program at a Major hospital things changed- i.e i did not get the interview. So my qn is what am i doing wrong? Other recruiters have told me not to just sit wait out for my "dream icu job" but to seek out other nurse job opportunities, hence my current LTC job. At this job i have pts on dialysis(in-house) , trach, g-tubes, picc lines, pacemakers ,wound treatments and ofcourse rehab. That's skilled right ??? So did my current job hurt my chances at interviewing for this icu internship? Is a new grad with no clinical experience (Outside of nursing clin rotations) better off than me? What is it then? WHO IS GETTING ALL THE ICU INTERNSHIP JOBS THEN ???? Apart from those who worked as techs in the ICU ? Tell me something i don't know. Thanks in advance !!! PS: I'm RN, BSN btw.
  4. Youtube is a great source to learn diff lung sounds. Repeat listening to audio over and over you will master the difference.
  5. hey mnelmac, Please, DO NOT listen to fancypants09's comment !!!! Failing the nclex 4 times has ABSO NOTHING to do with what kind of nursing student you were or what kind of nurse you will be. You will PASS, You have to approach test this exam different. I will inbox you.
  6. kaplan kaplan kaplan !!!!!!!
  7. Gbless13 check your inbox i sent you a message
  8. i would do a bladder scan in addition to other assessments of the pt´s physical condition just to feel comfortable with the situation...
  9. This nyp prog can kiss my 'you know what' ! who waits for a year for a damn job! new grad or not! ..ain't nobody got time for that . NEXT ! PS: (applied since jan this yr n blah blah with the emails they kip sending)
  10. I recommend kaplan q-banks , q-trainers... keep practicing such "passing level " qns over and over and over untill you understand how and why each answer is the correct one. Also incorporate kaplan test taking strategies into your way of reasoning (esp the decision tree)! Never Give Up ! You are so young this is just a minor bump in the road on your way to the top. Best of luck future RN :-)
  11. Hi kimmy, You need to acess yourself . How is your critical thinking? How is your clinical nursing judgement? Forget what everyone else is doing or what they did and what worked. You need to take a min and think about what it is exactly you are doing. Write it down if you need to. Then ask yourself , "This obviously did not work on previous attempts, What am i missing? " ... With this assessment of your study habits, then you can consult a tutor . Rem: Nclex RN exam does NOT test knowlegde or content ! (Anyone can read a nursing book and aquire content infor) ..... But what the exam tests is how YOU as a novice nurse, can use this nursing content, and apply to making bedside nursing decisions... aka CRITICAL THINKING and CLINICAL JUDGEMENT! I know this stage sucks!!! Never in a million yrs did u imagine urself down this road i know trust me ive bin there! But NEVER give up ! Thats when you actually fail! You still have a chance ! Tell urself u will take this damn exam a thousand times if u have to (I mean no one wants that but think mental lol) ..But you MUST pass !!! Take a moment to breathe, but pls remember , you must assess what the problem is , before you find a solution. And dont go scrambling for random review courses because it worked for others. GOOD Luck !!! You will Pass !!! Go future RN. !!!
  12. I was not hoping for this but got rejection email for liver icu today Good luck guys
