UCLA New Grad Program 2010

Published

Has anyone heard anything back from the UCLA New Grad Summer Program for 2010? I applied in the beginning of February and have only had a phone interview so far, with no feedback yet. Any info or others' experience would be much appreciated, thank you!

Well, I just wanted to share that I got the job! I still have to pass the employee health screen or whatever, so I'm not entirely sure when my start date is! The physical isn't crazy hard, is it? I'm pretty healthy, but I'm still nervous. lol. I hope to see you sometime, Janbug! She told me today that the shift would be rotating :( Sort of bummed to hear that, but whatever! It's UCLA HOSPITAL!

YAY! Congrats! :yeah:

The health screen isn't bad, it's just a 2-step TB screen and touching your toes, etc. I wouldn't stress about it at all.

We'll probably see each other soon then. I'm back on days right now and will be rotating to nights in November. I'm not too happy with that, but I can't really do anything about it.

Sorry this is a short post, I had a bad day today and I will be flying solo (I'll be off orientation!) for the first time tomorrow. Wish me luck!

p.s. My first name is Jan. :)

Hi Jan! Thank you so much! I'm so excited! I'm not looking forward to rotating either. I prefer night shift :( I'm hoping there are people on nights that want days, so I can work more nights than days.

Ok, I'm not going to worry about the employee health screen. I was just stressed that they would want me to fly out again for it, but they can just do that when I move out there.

Oh, good luck tomorrow! I'm sorry you had a bad day :( Just know there are plenty of good days to come!

I'm Tiffany, by the way. I'll talk to you soon!

There's a lot of new grads that couldn't even get into a New Grad Program... is there any other way out than just waiting?

The traditional way seems to have too much hassle these days... Good Luck to all New Grads!

hey guys, i have a quick question= do you need to have your RN license before applying for the new grad position? I am applying for the 2011 program. Any insights?

No - you only need to have your RN by the time the program would start (Feb/March), but having it at the time of applying/interviewing probably looks good.

Thanks Jen, thats what i figured! but i take my nclex second week of november and dont want to wait till then to apply to the program. Would you be knowing when the application closes? Im confused, i really want to apply today but i dont want HR to reject me from the get-go for not having the license section filled out! eek

The application closes November 1st, but I have a suspicion that it will go into a waitlist soon. Apply now and hopefully by the time you have your HR interview (end of November) you can proudly let HR know that you passed your NCLEX and have your license! :)

Hi,

Just submitted my application on the day it opened. I applied for NICU, PICU and Peds. What did everyone else apply for?

I think a lot of people have already applied to the UCLA new grad program including my self over 900 peopl so far. I am scared that it is going to be tough finding a job. I am not sure how UCLA is going to decide who gets an interview or not. Does anyone now when they will start to interview people? Good luck everyone

Does anyone know if everyone who applies to the program gets a talent plus interview? What exactly is it like?

I also applied to the program the morning it opened.

Santa Monica ER, Neuro ICU, and Cardiothoracic ICU

I got an email about the Talent Plus and the Skill Survey, but I'm still waiting on them to send me more on it like they said they would.

I too am waiting, hopefully we will hear something by Monday. I am curious what the telephone interview will be like. Also- when I log into my account my status reads: "We have contacted you for an interview". Does everyone else's say that?
