UCLA New Grad Program 2010
Hi Jan! Thank you so much! I'm so excited! I'm not looking forward to rotating either. I prefer night shift I'm hoping there are people on nights that want days, so I can work more nights than days. Ok, I'm not going to worry about the employee health screen. I was just stressed that they would want me to fly out again for it, but they can just do that when I move out there. Oh, good luck tomorrow! I'm sorry you had a bad day Just know there are plenty of good days to come! I'm Tiffany, by the way. I'll talk to you soon!

Well, I just wanted to share that I got the job! I still have to pass the employee health screen or whatever, so I'm not entirely sure when my start date is! The physical isn't crazy hard, is it? I'm pretty healthy, but I'm still nervous. lol. I hope to see you sometime, Janbug! She told me today that the shift would be rotating Sort of bummed to hear that, but whatever! It's UCLA HOSPITAL!

Ok, you just made me feel better :) I thought it was a good sign that they had me come out for an interview with the manager, too. I have to say that the meeting with the HR rep wasn't even an interview. She just went over all the benefits, what my pay would be, how to transfer my license, etc. I feel like the interview with the nurse manager went really well, too. I really liked her. I'm just a worry wart. Sorry for all the questions. I just need to be comforted. Thanks for keeping your fingers crossed for me :)

Thank you! Can you completely bomb the Talentplus interview and not be considered? I didn't feel good about that interview after I hung up the phone. I had NO idea how much detail they were looking for. It was an awful interview. The questions were so weird. I'm just stressed to the max The nurse manager did call Tuesday because I called to follow up on Monday, and she told me she still has two more people to interview, so she won't have a decision until next week. I just want to know either way!! I'm dying here! Thanks for keeping my spirits up, Janbug! I appreciate your responses, they make me feel better!!

Ok, I think I survived Talentplus. Yikes. And should I be worried if my application status no longer shows it's "active" - I'm freaking out here!!!

Ok, ladies. I think I'm progressing through the interview process! Next up, the talentplus interview. I've done one of these before, and I think they're fine. I just don't like that they take 45mins to an hour. I've done Talentmine, not talentplus. Wish me luck! I just want an offer already....yes or no!!! Hope you're all well!

Thanks for keeping your fingers crossed!!!! I need all the prayers I can get on this one! Oh, I'm sorry about rotating This is a common thing for new grads, which I think stinks. That's hard on your body, but I have to say, working day shift is a good thing because you work with the doctors, family, etc, and you learn a lot faster than you do on nights. Hang in there, and hopefully we'll be coworkers soon!!!

Oh, and the nursing manager said she would keep me on nights since I've always worked nights. Yay! If she's interested, I'd still need to do the TalentMine phone interview (gag, I've done those before, don't like them!!). Ok, I need to sleep. I have to work tonight

Thanks, Janbug! I've been a nurse for over a year now, so I'm hoping I'd make the minimum listed. I really the site you suggested, padmapper. Thanks for that!- UCLA New Grad Program 2010
Well, I hope she can put me on nights if I get the position. I love working nights. Days would be a very difficult adjustment, but I'd do it if it meant I could relocate to CA. Good luck on your first night shift! Thanks for letting me know that I had the completely wrong location. Whoops Yes, Colorado is great, but I HATE winters so much. I was born and raised in Detroit, MI, so when I moved to CO, the winters are so much milder than those I experienced in MI, but I still dread living through the winter. Yuck. I don't want to see snow for a long time. Thank you for letting me know about the refrigerator situation! Yes, I have a very fat cat that would be coming with me if I get the position. If I have any more questions, I will definitely post them here since I can't PM yet. Thank you so much!! Oh, I did have one last question. On the career site, it lists a minimum salary and maximum salary. Did you find those to be held true? I would sort of like to know whereabouts they start their RNs. Since it is so expensive to live out there, I just want to make sure it is doable. Thank you!!- UCLA New Grad Program 2010
JANbug!!! Sorry about that! Thank you so much for your response. I even tried friend requesting you to try to ask you some questions, but you answered them here! Thank you, and please don't think I'm stalking you! I was just excited to see someone who was working on the unit that I'm interviewing for. I'm hoping they hire me for nights because I'm not a day shift gal at all I tried to clarify what shift I was interviewing for and the best answer I got was "well, I think our 12 hour shifts are all rotating." Oh no! Please for the love of God, don't make me work days! Ok, the physical doesn't sound horrible. I'm glad you like the unit. That is so important to me. Any floor a nurse works on will be difficult, but I like knowing that despite all of the hectic stuff going on, we can work as a team. I need teamwork and open communication!! Without those, I can't thrive. I will definitely ask Sheri about the relocation package. Thank you! I sure hope they offer one, I'll definitely need it! I'm glad the unit manager is nice! I'm honored she even wanted to interview me. I must say all the questions like "tell me a time when xyz happened, and what you did to get the situation under control." AH! I live in Denver. Boulder is beautiful. The current fire in Boulder is a tragedy. Arvada is also nice. I love Colorado, but I'm ready to live my dream. I've wanted to live in California for years! So, I hope my dream comes true. What part of LA do you live in? I've been looking at apartments just in case I get the job, and holy goodness! LA is HUGE. I can't figure out what is close to the hospital and what isn't. I was looking at Marina Del Rey. It's gorgeous and the studios aren't horribly priced. I may try to find a roommate, too. Any suggestions on areas to look in? I did check out Westwood since that's where UCLA hospital is. I found one reasonably priced studio, but the rest was way too expensive. Thanks again for answering my questions and putting my mind at ease a bit!- UCLA New Grad Program 2010
Hi Monkeysarecute! I'm not a new grad! I should have clarified. I just stumbled upon this thread and noticed that people were discussing UCLA, the interview process, the physical and the specific units. I just wanted some feedback from those of you who experienced this process already. I tend to stress out over interviews way too much, so I always need a little reassurance Thank you for answering some of my questions! Sheri seems so nice! I'm excited to meet these people soon! Thanks for wishing me luck! I want to live in LA soooooo badly- UCLA New Grad Program 2010
Hello folks! I was so excited reading this thread! I just scheduled my interivew with UCLA for the Geriatric Medicince Step Down unit. I noticed one person on this thread was offered a position on that unit (junbug, I think, sorry if I've got that wrong!). I was wondering if you liked the unit so far? What is the manager of the unit like? I'm absolutely terrified of this interview! What does the physical entail? It sounds like an intense interview. I would meet with Sheri in HR at 11:00 to "prep" for my interview with the manager, and then interview with the manager at 1pm! Prep!? Holy goodness! I want this SO bad. I would be relocating to LA, does anyone know if they offer a relocation package? I didn't notice anything on the website. I don't live too far away. I currently live in CO. Any help from anyone who has gone through the interview process would be greatly appreciated! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Nurset99- O"Grady Peyton Agency?? Wat Yah Think?
Soselina, I'm currently in contact with OGP about getting a job in Australia. How do you like it so far? What's nursing like in Australia? Any info you could offer would be greatly appreciated! - UCLA New Grad Program 2010
