Hi friends!

Anyone applying to the UCLA MSN-Advanced Practice program for Fall 2014? I applied for the FNP program. I figured we could use this thread to chat and update each other!

Thanks!

I emailed Mark with admissions. I need to retake Physio and classes start on March 31st via ucla extension. I asked him if decisions would be out by the first day of class. He replied: "It is our goal to have admissions out by April so hopefully you’ll hear back from us before class starts on March 31st. Right now applications are currently out for review."

Ya, hopefully we'll all know soon!!

Hi all,

I applied to UCLA FNP 2014 as well and anxiously anticipating on the waiting game. And useful to know that they take 30% of applicants. Where else have you guys applied to? I applied to UCLA, UCI, Western University. I'm praying and wishing that I get one spot from out of those three. But my main wish is to get into UCLA.. Good luck with you all! Keep us updated :)

^^I applied to those and also CSULA, CSULB, and CSUDH (

Friend of mine currently going to Western FNP, he said it's like 50k. I think UCLA is similar too. One good thing about Western is that it's online (or could be worse) and part-time if you want. I don't plan on quitting my work.. So that will work for those who's planning to continuously work full-time.

It's gonna be killer when it's March 1 and no decision posted. :p I would so pay extra to expedite decisions. Lol

I think I heard they let the MECN students know first and then the MSN students...Could be a rumor though.

What do you think he meant by "admissions"? Does he mean that accepted students should tell UCLA their intent BY APRIL? Or that acceptances/denials will be out by April? I bet the UCLA extension classes are expensive too btw! It'd probably be nicer to know sooner than later if classes start March 31

I am sure by "admissions" he meant decisions for applicants would be made available. From the info session I attended, the admissions specialist said to expect April because in the past they told prospectives March and then they would get upset when decisions rolled into April.

Additionally, in past threads for UCLA Fall MSN applicants, they waited into April. They also mentioned having been notified by snail mail before email or decision status page. It would be important too also note that the snail mail letters were in a regular envelope so they thought it was a rejection letter when it was actually acceptance.

For physio, I am thinking of doing it through UC Berkley's extension as it seems flexible and online and I would just have to take a proctored final exam. The cost, when I checked in the Fall, would be $800. I held out because I am waiting to hear from other schools first that don't require me to retake any pre-reqs. Best. Luck to everyone. I know the pain of waiting. I'm in the process with two other schools right now an it's torture.

It's kinda pointless for us to scrutinize over when we will know if we have been accepted or not. We will know when we know.

Lancermav_RN, for Berkeley extension for physio, is it a rolling class start? Or does it have a specific date the class starts? I have only looked into UCLA's extension physio course as of late. It costs $600 if you enroll by feb 28. You are able to get a full refund before the first week of class ends. First day of class is march 31.

I have a friend who is currently taking the physio course through UCLA extension. She just took her midterm which was online and said it was the hardest test she has ever taken. The test questions were "choose all that apply." She scored a 71%. Luckily a few days later, the exam was graded on a curve and she made out with a 91%. The idea of a FINAL proctored exam, if that is how Berkeley extensions physio course is like, terrifies me!

Best wishes to all of us. The way I see it, all things happen for a reason. And what's meant to be will be. While I am excited to begin my Masters coursework, I feel somewhat calm about being accepted or denied admission. I'm a single mommy of an 8 month old baby and do plan to work full time while going to school full time. Either way will be a blessing. More time to spend with my baby during these priceless, fleeting months, or finally getting my masters degree under my belt.

Gemi, I believe Berkley's extension has extended registration because the classes still need to be completed in at least 90 days, I believe. As for the proctored final exam, you have to use one of the approved places or get a proctoring site approve by the school.

Please note that most decisions on graduate admissions for fall term are made in the months of March and April and therefore you should not anticipate a decision much before that time period.
