Hi friends!
Anyone applying to the UCLA MSN-Advanced Practice program for Fall 2014? I applied for the FNP program. I figured we could use this thread to chat and update each other!
Thanks!

From what I gather from a friend in the program, the SOP is ranked high and your references, if they give you a bad reference can hurt you. My ADN GPA was horrendous. That was 9 years ago when getting into a nursing school wasn't hard. But I was cum Laude getting my bachelors degree. So I hope they take that into consideration. Plus I have almost 9 years of ICU experience. Guess we won't know til we know.
Hi all! I am moving to Southern California this Summer and applied for UCLA's FNP program starting Fall 2014. I liked a few things about UCLA... ex: how strong it is academically. I also think UCLA has great programs in place for nurses interested in global health and that scores points with me. :)
Does anybody have an idea of average class sizes? I figure it would typically run larger but don't have exact numbers. Nice to meet you all and good luck to everybody applying !
lovepeacelove,
You can check here: https://www.gradadmissions.ucla.edu/newapp/Login.asp?topage=AdmissionStatus.asp
However, I've heard people in past years received a letter in the mail confirming acceptance into the program and the decision had not be reflected on the website.

I only applied to UCLA since I need to be in LA because just started work at UCLA and I have a young baby I need to establish roots for. I intend to work full time for as long as I can and hope there is a part time position available if I feel like I need it.
There was a girl in my orientation who had 1 young baby, husband, and worked full time. Then she was pregnant and dropped to working part time the rest of the program. Pretty hefty load. But she said she put her mind to it and nothing was gonna stop her. She was in the FNP program at UCLA.
We can all achieve success if we set it as our intention. I can't wait to find out. March is just around the corner!
