UCLA MSN Fall 2014

Published

Hi friends!

Anyone applying to the UCLA MSN-Advanced Practice program for Fall 2014? I applied for the FNP program. I figured we could use this thread to chat and update each other!

Thanks!

Does anyone know how we retrieve acceptance, waitlist or rejection notifications? I think for acceptance, it will be through regular post. For the latter two, does anyone know if it is the same or will it be sent out through email/login? Thanks in advance!

come on mid/late april, we're maxing out our patience meter!

Hi. From what I've read from previous posts, rejection gets posted earlier on the decision log-in page before they get it thru snail mail. Yet, some others get their rejection letters thru snail mail at the same time it gets posted online. So really, it's hard to tell which ones come first.

At UCSF, they email the waitlist applicants first, then the "no, you're not in, and yes you are in" next. Don't know if that applies to UCLA as well.

I hope the SON would send all the results out in just one specific week, rather than a staggered release of results... Can the latter one be more beneficial than the former? Who knows... It's almost there.

Does anyone know if it ever happened that one gets rejected from the specialty he or she applied for at UCLA then be offered a different specialty that is more congruent to his or her goal stmt? I'm just curious...who comprises UCLA SON's admission committee?

Unfortunately, I don't think that's how it works.

You have to apply for fellowships to be considered, but they are pretty limited and hard to come by. Here is a website with some fellowship info: Financial Aid for MSN - Advanced Practice Program | UCLA School of Nursing. Contact Craig Kusunoki at the SON (director of financial aid) for more info.

Sorry if this is a stupid question but what is a fellowship? Is it for people that are accepted into the program? I'll try contacting the director of financial aid and get more info.

Out of curiosity, has anyone straight called the SON and asked if they were admitted or not? Lol

No I have not, but I have thought about it MANY times. Can someone please so this?

I did!--This morning..and Mark Covin stated it was a few weeks. I asked if it mattered that other schools had deadlines of intent to enroll before then and he said there was no way to know earlier. He also said the fellowship was based on the diversity statement we applied for with our application and not FAFSA.

@Matthew--were you the one who answered my lung question in class last week?

Oh! I was under the impression decisions had already been made and they are just lagging with the notifications...?
