Hey there, I am planning on applying to the UCLA MECN 2016 program and was wondering if anyone else out there was applying as well. Just curious about other applicants and hoping to go through this application process with some other people! Would love any feedback. Thanks :)
Hi guys!
I received a somewhat confusing e-mail today from Rhonda. It says the School of Nursing has "recommended to the Graduate Division of UCLA that I be admitted" but that final admissions decisions are made by the Graduate Division/I should receive an official acceptance in 2-3 weeks.
For all of the people saying they were accepted, is this the same e-mail you got? Also, where are you guys checking on the UCLA portal to see your acceptance status?
Thank you!

hey! That's what my email said too. It's my understanding that we have been admitted to the program. My email said: "It is a pleasure to inform you that the School of Nursing has recommended to the Graduate Division of UCLA that you be admitted to the Master's Entry Clinical Nursing Program beginning Fall Quarter, 2016. Please be advised that FINALadmission decisions are made by the UCLA Graduate Division. You should receive the OFFICIAL notification from the UCLA Graduate Divisions within 2 – 3 weeks"
my understanding is that this means the nursing program has accepted us and wants us but the graduate division technically needs to approve it, and why wouldn't they? Every school does this where you get accepted into the program but then "final acceptance" comes from the university. It's a formality. If someone lied about their transcripts or something and they didn't really have a bachelors then the university would turn them down. Otherwise why would they override the nursing programs decision, ya know?
do folks agree with my understanding of this?
@mrisajne,Wow...you are getting it! When is your expected graduation date? Are you going to be able to finish all those courses by summer or end of spring?
I will have the classes for my current major completed by the end of spring, but I'll finish up the prereqs for nursing in the summer. Or maybe I'll space out my major's classes into summer so I don't have to take so many units Spring quarter. Not sure, but I'll have it all done before the program begins if admitted.
Have you heard anything yet? Do you know how long it will be until we find out?

I think the tuition is only $19K a year.. I'm sure the rest is just living costs, which is about right.. especially if you want to live in Westwood. It's a little cheaper in Santa Monica (which sounds ridiculous just saying it) but you can get decent places in Culver City. But.. do you want to deal with traffic? Cause it really is that bad...
