Is anyone applying to the Fall 2012 program ? I have a few questions and I think it would be good to share our concerns regarding the application process here.

I am a preschool teacher and I am applying for 2012. Have very little healthcare volunteer experience and wondering if that really maters. I have some experience looking after a family member who had a stomach surgery and chemo.

Just fyi - when I submitted my app back in October I was in the middle of my Nutrition and Speech classes. I followed up with the coordinator last week and he suggested that if I had a grade in the classes that I should send updated transcripts so that he could update my application.

Wow. can't believe it was only last year I was in the same boat as you guys..

Hang tight everyone! I also went through pre-reqs, volunteering/work, and excruciatingly long waiting period till March.. Whether you get in this year or not.. this whole process will refine you as great nurses! Just don't give up!

Wish you guys luck!

same, submitted last night! Good luck everyone! btw, transcripts don't need to reach them until December :)

Hi Danceluver,

Quick question please :) Im applying for fall 2013 and I would really appreciate your help on something. You said that UCLA did not need to receive transcripts until December which is perfect because most people don't finish the fall semester till around December 23rd. At my school, Cal State Long Beach, finals are from Dec 12-16 and then teachers post up grades the following week. So when exactly does UCLA need to have those fall transcripts? By the end of December at least? Does it look bad if you submit them by the end of December? I plan on going to an information session this summer for fall 2013 admissions. But in the meantime, that question is really bothering me because it does not seem fair to have to wait for your final transcripts to be sent and maybe someone gets in instead of me.

Thanks!

My major is Health Science but I still have Human Anatomy in progress. What is your major?

@ HelloKitty---Yes, you should be fine :) They told me they don't even look at applications until mid January when they return from the winter holidays and the new year. lYou could even feasibly send transcripts in Jan. Just keep in touch with one of the admissions people who put together the files (is on the website) and you should be golden. Hope that helps!

I'm a Biology major. I somehow managed to finish all of my prereqs last semester haha

Has anyone heard anything from UCLA?

ariana22 - NO! I keep stalking the forum and nothing! Sigh.

Read the thread from last year. We don't begin to hear back until early March. It's just the waiting game now.

pttrac - yes I know march is the time, doesn't prevent me from looking!

Hey everyone, I'm a first year MECN and I remember being on this page last year when I was waiting to hear from UCLA! You definately won't hear from them until at least March but more like end of March so just enjoy yourselves and try not to worry or stress....cause trust me, you will have MORE THAN your fair share of stress when you enter the program. Good luck everyone! It's a blast. We get to give flu shots our first quarter and do all these cool health fairs and really dive right in!

Lol @lisapett42 you are scaring all the potential MECNs away! I am a first-year as well – the workload is tough but totally manageable. I still have time to relax and do fun things. It just depends on your study style and coping mechanisms for stress. Good luck everyone! Just 6 more weeks til decisions come out! :nurse:
