Is anyone applying to the Fall 2012 program ? I have a few questions and I think it would be good to share our concerns regarding the application process here.

I am a preschool teacher and I am applying for 2012. Have very little healthcare volunteer experience and wondering if that really maters. I have some experience looking after a family member who had a stomach surgery and chemo.

@pttrac-thank you for that information---i thought that was strange as well--yes, saves me some $$$

i actually just called them, they told me i did need 2 copies of my transcripts from the school which i received my degree at. Anyone heard differently? (graduate admissions said this too)

i only sent one transcript from each institution as they told me. i hope it was a mistake from the person you spoke with. even if you sent two, i don't see the harm in it. this is the message that i received. it's legit as it was from the director of admissions:

"yes, it does state that we need 2 official transcripts from your undergraduate institution. we were just informed that we no longer need to submit a copy to the graduate division. therefore, we will only need one official transcript from all institutions."

-rhonda flenoy-younger

director of recruitment, outreach and admissions

on another note, i did upload my official transcripts as scans on the application page, so graduate admissions should have access to those. why else would they ask me to upload them. hope this helps.

Just called her----thank you!!!! You are absolutely right...it helped that i was speaking to the right person too :) Appreciate the help!

can anyone also tell me do we, besides filling out FAFSA have to apply separately for any of the scholarships or fellowships they offer through the nursing school---or are we ineligible for this at MECN students?

Hello all.

I just applied to the UCLA MECN program two weeks ago. Regarding the fellowships and scholarships - that's an excellent question to ask MECN admissions or even the fellowships to which you'd like to apply.

We can start filing the 2012-2013 FAFSA January 1, 2012. I believe that the priority deadline for financial aid is March 1, 2012. I'll see what else I can find.

I would just fill out the financial aide FASFA and turn in the fellowship/scholarship forms as well. The early the better, I presume.

I have also received an email today stating that my application is complete and that admission notices will go out in mid-March. It's kind of a long time, considering some schools have early admission decisions by mid-December. I hope I get in since it is close to my home and commuting will be a lot cheaper than relocating. Good luck to all you guys!

Hi Nadianana,

I applied to the UCLA MECN program too.

When do you gals and guys start your clinical? Does it begin in conjunction with your theory/academic work.

Thanks.

Hi everyone! I also applied to MECN and its all I think about! Is anyone else feeling that way too?? I applied to couple other schools as well and I just want to hear back ASAP. March seems so far away I don't know how I will make it.

Yep. It's hard for me not to think about nursing school.

can anyone also tell me do we, besides filling out fafsa have to apply separately for any of the scholarships or fellowships they offer through the nursing school---or are we ineligible for this at mecn students?

hi danceluver,

i hope this is not too rudimentary, but here is the link and other information for entering graduate student fellowships. this link lists the awards:

http://www.gdnet.ucla.edu/asis/entsup/fellgrnt.htm

"for all of the above awards submit the fellowship application for entering graduate students and, if applicable, the diversity fellowships - supplemental application (both are located at http://www.gdnet.ucla.edu/asis/entsup/fellproc.htm) directly to your major department by december 15. consult your department for exceptions."

best,

~gozxamaica

GozXamaica--thanks! Just took a look--on the application it says that you need to be nominated by your department in order to be considered---is this true? How does it work? Is everyone else considering applying for the scholarships/fellowships?
