Is anyone applying to the Fall 2012 program ? I have a few questions and I think it would be good to share our concerns regarding the application process here.
I am a preschool teacher and I am applying for 2012. Have very little healthcare volunteer experience and wondering if that really maters. I have some experience looking after a family member who had a stomach surgery and chemo.
Kassach I saw that too! It seems like some highly qualified applicants were not accepted last year. I think they base a lot of it off of the statement of purpose. How well you can convey yourself and your goals for nursing. Because I bet everyone applying has pretty good grades and experiences.
I gathered from last year's forum that the people who were rejected found out before the people who were accepted via this website https://www.gradadmissions.ucla.edu/newapp/Login.asp?topage=AdmissionStatus.asp. The people who were accepted found out in the mail? Or email? I'm not sure.
Do you think we'll find out next week on Thurs or Fri? Or will it be the following Monday Tuesday?
I check that website above every day even though it is early. The waiting is driving me crazy. I dont know if I'll get in but I just want to KNOW
FYI...in case you guys didn't know. They are letting in 90 MECN's to the Fall 2012 class (instead of the usual 60) so that's good! I'm a MECN now and we received emails from the Dean letting us know. Plus they let in about 25 people from waitlist so your chances are way better than ours were (60 were let in out of over 600!)
We always were 60 but they just rose it to 90 and lowered their #'s for associates bc hospitals are hiring less and less ASNs and more MSNs. Great news for you guys.
Actually they don't have an ADN program here anymore.. They're just downsizing the APNs a little bit for next year (like 4 ppl less).
They've been making decisions so it looks like you guys are going to get letters in the mail really soon! :) You'll be getting letters before you get emails (they had made that mistake last year) so look out for your letter in the next week or so.

Thank you kgroundw! I am so happy to hear there is a smaller applicant pool, that actually makes me really happy!! I know someone who got into the program last year who only had a 3.0 prereq GPA, but she did have tons of experience as a Clinical Care Extender volunteering and etc. but still those without a 4.0 stand a chance. And I already check my email 10 times a day and it's not even march yet! I am dying to find out already
