Hello All!
I'm applying to UCLA's MECN program this year for Fall 2020. Who else is applying? I hope we can all support each other through this process. ?
What are some of the questions you may have about the application process?
50 minutes ago, HaveFaith said:From looking at last year’s thread, they were giving out acceptances from Feb. 26-28, so I wouldn’t lose all hope. Let’s try our best to stay positive until we get confirmation from Mark or Jeimy.
I looked at the year prior to that and people were chiming in about emails for around four days too. I suspect almost all of us will hear something--good, bad, and limbo--by the end of Tuesday.
Sadly, not everyone who posts on forums that are public has the group's best intentions as a motivator. I realize "troll" may be harsh, but it was accurate in its intent, meaning, and tone; I've been on various public forums for over twenty years and these are behaviors observed before there were labels for it. That said, I also added that the content had been seen from previous years, which implied that I did not think the person was being one.
Thanks for well wishes on JHU. I was in shock for a good two weeks after getting my acceptance.
Good luck on the waitlist. I got waitlisted at a different school, which I eventually got into, and it was a mix bag. You're not, but you're not out either. Thus, you in a bit of limbo.
End of the day, I do not care what nursing program you get into to become an RN, they're all very competitive to get into. Getting into any of them is a big deal, which is an accomplishment that should be celebrated on one's journey to becoming an RN.
@InspiredNurse7 spoke MAJOR facts! If we’re throwin around the word “troll” friend, then ii guess I’m a happy one because ii got waitlisted too....with a great number! Proud of everyone who got accepted into their desired schools and always remember the passion behind what you’re doing! #proudtroll #potentialbruin #everythingiido #iidoitformygrandparents

I did not think you were. The waitlist notifications were sent out with the acceptance ones that I saw from the threads of previous cohorts. I totally understand the cost difference of the two. The cost of JHU and Columbia is within about a thousand dollars for the first year. This is pretty consistent for private schools such as these. Univ of San Diego for their program was just over $100K.
I have a lot of family in Los Angeles, but none that close to UCLA. I would not want to deal with the traffic to commute to school, so I would choose to live closer to campus. I cannot imagine the rent is cheap near the school.
