Nursing Students School Programs

It's that time of year again! I am planning on applying for the Fall 2019 quarter. The summer 2018 information sessions are now open. Who else is applying ?

I'm right behind @byoung10 at #25, not a lot of hope for me.

You got in to Cal State LA though, right? That’s awesome! I haven’t heard anything at all from them yet so I anticipate it’s going to be a flat-out rejection.

I haven't heard from them yet! I think we hear in late March, ~March 20 or so. So right now I am just living with the anxiety of not being in anywhere. Good luck to you! I'm dealing with the rejection from CSULB, who did something weird to my application and now will not respond to my emails/phone calls... :( I cannot wait for March to be over so we all know our future.

Has anyone heard from the nursing school about waitlists and where they stand?

I was also wondering the same thing. Has anyone else been accepted?

I don't think anyone has said anything about getting off the waitlist since @kayx last week... I haven't heard any updates about being moved up or anything.

I just declined my admission so hopefully one of you gets my spot! ❤️ Best of luck!!

Thank you @kayx, I'm guessing you got into another program that you prefer so congrats on that!

For those who received an acceptance, did you receive any letters in the mail? Also, for some reason I never received an email from the graduate office formally accepting me but I was able to log in to my portal where I read my official acceptance letter and was also able to SIR/SLR just fine. Any feedback?

What portal are you referring to? I don't think I have any portals, and I want one.

If there are any current/past UCLA MECN students frequenting the forum: how did you guys fund the program? I talked to the financial aid advisor and was estimated to only be offered ~10k in scholarship and like 44k in loans for just the first year alone. I'm carrying ~30k in debt from my first bachelor's and am scared I won't be able to dig myself out of it by the end of the program (30k + 43k + 43k = 116k).

For future students frequenting this forum: how are you guys planning to pay for the program? I'm in a rut trying to figure out my finances. ?

It may be pointless now, but I started planning to go to nursing school three years ago (I'm many years past my undergrad career at this point). Thus I started saving for the hefty MECN amount- didn't get there (we bought something big along the way that wiped out half our school savings, oops), so I'm now about halfway saved. I'm part of a two-income household, so that helps. I've heard that some MECN students work part time, like after the first quarter you can be hired as a CNA and one 12-hour shift a week seems to be popular.
