Hi- Is anyone applying to UCLA's MECN program for next fall?
Highly doubtful. If they cannot mass email acceptances, they cannot mass email rejections.
Of course they can't mass email acceptances since it has to be personal and your name has to be addressed. As for rejections, that's another story. I don't think addressing someone's name is necessary.

"Personalizing"things has no effect on whether or not they can mass email, FYI. It can all be done automatically if they had the right system (which they clearly don't).
My page now says "You should soon be receiving a response directly from your major program regarding a decision on your application". I'm expecting a rejection letter via snail mail.
At this point, a lot of the sting of not getting in is dulled by how unbelievably poorly that all of this has been handled. I'm a firm believer that what's meant to be will be, and I believe I'm meant to attend a program that treats its applicants with respect and consideration. I wish all of you the best!!
I am a MECN student and have some thoughts/advice after reading this forum:
First - I've been in your shoes and know how hard it is to wait and find out your acceptance status. Hang in there. Nursing school probably going to be the hardest thing you'll ever do, so the wait is good training :)
Second - waitlist folks keep the faith - - People on the waitlist with high numbers do get in. Just make sure you have all your pre refs done including epidemiology. Sometimes people will be offered spots off the waitlist over the summer and they haven't taken epidemiology and can't accept the spot, so people with rely high numbers get in. So don't lose hope.
Third - don't give up at this point since all the acceptances haven't gone out. No contact doesn't mean a rejection. If UCLA has been your top choice, you shouldn't all of a sudden say bad things about it because you have had a month longer wait than you were told. The admission folks work so hard to get the best cohort possible, and it's not fair for people to blast them on a public forum just because they are anxious. It is unprofessional.
Nursing school, the new grad app process, NCLEX, and nursing itself is all about patience. The MECN program has an insanely high retention rate - which is because they take such time and care to choose their applicants wisely. Wouldn't you rather wait longer to get in somewhere to be in the best cohort possible than find out sooner and have had them rush through the process? Good luck to all, I absolutely love the program!

They could have at least made it less obvious. Sigh.
Thank you for your feedback @nursing_student100! It's always appreciated to hear from current students who are enjoying the program and have valuable insight to share on the process. I certainly don't mean to criticize anyone and very much appreciate how much that the admission staff has on their hands. After all, they are balancing not just this one program, but several. I've had great conversations and interactions with everyone I've spoken with there, but recognize that they are definitely understaffed.
Still, it's disappointing that they never once notified applicants of a delay or provided any kind of an update as the past 7 weeks have dragged on. The best things are worth waiting for, whether we end up at UCLA or elsewhere. I'm super excited for everyone who got in and wish you the best with the remainder of the program!!

I wonder if they will send a mass email at 5:00pm PST with all the rejections. I know that most undergrad programs wait until Fridays at 5:00pm to send notices.
