UCLA MECN Fall 2011

Published

Hello,

I saw that the MECN application for UCLA has been posted today. Is anyone applying to the Fall 2011 program?? I haven't found a thread going on yet...Maybe we can share our questions/concerns regarding the application process here.

Hey y'all... can I ask what you put under the "Pertinent Work Experience" section? Descriptors of present/recent jobs and/or descriptions of other jobs not in those last 3?

Anyone else still revising, revamping and reviewing it all?? :) Good luck to us all!

I described my duties for the health-related paid/voluntary experiences I have had. Im assuming you can list voluntary health related experiences- it does not say that it needs to be paid. I am still revising and reviewing everything, and still waiting for a recommendation to be sent in! yikes.

Hi, I just submitted my complete application Tuesday. I, too, was having trouble getting my recommenders to submitt on time. If you are getting stressed about one them not completing the recommendation I would get someone else to do one. That is what I had to do, I didn't want to risk it.

When I went to the info session they said you can have them in progress as long as they are completed by the time the program starts. It didn't seem like it was crucial to have them done to be accepted.

jean7,

have you tried using the "reminder option" on the recommendation page of the application? one of my professors had still not submitted the letter so i sent a reminder through the website and he completed it right away!

yes, and it worked out perfectly! now that all of my letters are in, i can focus on the application as a whole. does anyone know if we are required to upload our transcripts from schools we have gone to? it says we can "use this section to submit unofficial copies", but i'm confused as to whether or not this is a necessary part of our application.

thanks!

Jean7 - I uploaded the unofficial copies just to be safe but I don't think it's required.

Alright everyone, submission complete! Now the waiting begins... Good luck to you all!

Finally submitted the application! Good luck to everyone, now we wait till march I believe. Thanks for helping thoughout the process : )

Hello , I applied for fall 2011 , I don't know how many students they are going to accept for next year, I've heard that not so many apply for mecn...? I worked hard on my application and finally I submitted , Just praying for best at the moment.

Thanks all for your responses. I started my application just have to finish my personal statement & review my resume & volunteer-community involvement. I spoke w/ Rhonda last week ensuring they will not review applications post Christmas holiday break. Any classes finished then & submitted is okay (for those like me finishing my science pre-req). Transcripts can be sent even after 11/1 deadline, since everything is done electronically. Best of luck to us all!

YAY YAY YAY!! Now I can feel that same sigh of relief, it's in, submitted! And just to clarify for other worried parties, from what I was told, we have about a good month before the apps will be reviewed so somewhat late letters of recommendation shouldn't be an issue. However, if they're going to be more than about a month late, I was told to use a back-up recommender and then call and switch recommenders when/if the primary letter writer gets it in on time.

Good luck to all the other stragglers/crazy perfectionists! Sometimes you gotta just let go and let your bird (SOP/Resume) fly free! :)

For the rest of us...Now it's on to the next phase... hurry up and wait!

Hey everyone! Just wanted to wish everyone good luck! Its going to be a long long wait but I am keeping my hopes high!

I just submitted my application and it was stamped with Nov. 2nd... Since they processed it as EST. It is still Nov. 1 where I am. Does anyone know if this will create a problem? I am so nervous now! :(
