UCI MEPN Fall 2020

Published

Hi Everyone,

Didn't see a forum for UCI's MEPN Fall 2020 application cycle so I thought I would start one! I'll introduce myself:

Recent grad from undergrad. Relatively low GPA but large amount of clinical experience as a research assistant at a large hospital. Hoping it will help me. Good luck to everyone applying!

Hi everyone!
I hope you all aren’t stressing too much!

I’m a current member of the UCI MEPN 2019 class. I remember how anxious I was this time last year. Feel free to message me any questions/concerns you may have and I’ll do my best to get back to you!

I read in the previous semester thread that some people for interview during the second wave. I wonder if it will be same this time or not

Also, if you know is it important to have health care experience or not? Is high GPA really important or 3.6 is ok?

Thanks for getting to our thread!

Thanks for your words of encouragement! I cannot message you on here but do you have an email we can reach you at? Also any tips on how to prepare for the interview questions?

Yes, some people do interview in the second wave. It all just depends on the applicant pool interviews. Not sure if it’ll happen again this time, it just all depends if they are satisfied with all the first wave interviews or not.

Based on my cohort, a lot of us had health experience. They really like to see a lot of involvement in the community. I think having a strong health background and a good gpa puts you in a good position but I don’t think it’s necessary if you have other elements of the application that make you stand out, such as a great personal statement and LOR.

No, still waiting. Maybe there will be a second round for the interview. Did you get an interview invitation?

Nope ? do you know if any of the previous years had rejections early on in the process? Mentioned points, but confused uci with csuf lol! my bad

What do the points mean??

I am really sorry but how do you calculate those points?

What points and how do you calculate them?

Sorry! confused UCI with CSUF for a second. Waiting for both schools right now haha

I think you are mistaken, points are only in Com colleges and in some universities for Bachelors of nursing. Unless I am mistaken, UCI Entry of nursing does not have point system

And how do you now if you have 70 points if you do not know how many points you have for essay at fullerton. I asked them recently and they said they cannot give me the number of the points at fullerton because they did not calculate them yet

don't want to spam the UCI page with CSUF information (and also don't know how to quote lol!) but the 70 points are calculated before the essay and CSUF is known to cut interviews off at certain numbers (in 2018, it was apparently 70) before reviewing the essays. I don't know how accurate this is so take it with a grain of salt ?

if you need the link to know how to calculate your points, it's found on the CSUF Absn Fall 2020 allnurses thread.
