UCF Traditional and Accelerated BSN-2014

Published

Hello!

The application window starts January 1st, which is a couple weeks away from now. I am excited to apply though and see what happens. Who else is planning to apply here?

I am planning on applying to both the accelerated and traditional pathways.

HI All! I'm also applying to the accelerated program and am definitely nervous about how competitive it is. Hopefully we all end up getting an interview and can start in the Summer together :))

I just did the background check and fingerprinting- which was kinda a pain. But hopefully everything went good so that there wont be any issues! Then I'm gonna apply on the 15- and let the waiting begin. I'm just so nervous that my overall is too low- 3.67:unsure: but my pre-req is a 4.0 with a 90% TEAS! I'm just glad that we are all in this together, like we can all be able to talk and be nervous together!

Leah can you explain the process of the background check and the fingerprinting? I submitted my background check a few days ago and I've gotten nothing since then. I'm a bit confused.

glad i got a chance to read up on the forums! i didn't know that we needed our background check done before deadline!....

I applied already to Accelerated BSN (and will probably also apply to Basic) but UCF Admissions hasn't made a decision yet due to AP scores not being received yet, which is really annoying!

4.0 prereqs, 96.7 TEAS, but cumulative GPA is 3.04 (long story at previous university). When I went to UCF nursing advising, I was told that I am considered a competitive candidate even though my cumulative GPA is low, so I hope that is indeed the case...

Background check is easy, just follow the steps in the document attached to the email from UCF nursing to sign up on Certified Profile, and then do the checklist on Certifiedprofile.com. It is $90, but that includes the fingerprinting cost which is just done at basically any UPS store

I have been so nervous about this for months. I'm doing my background check right now, although I'm having trouble inputting information into the fingerprint portion of it. I can't read the drop down boxes and customer support is closed. Guess that will wait. I have a TEAS score of 91.3%, pre-req GPA (all completed) of 3.88 and an overall of 3.579, and I'm applying the basic BSN program. My GPAs have me worried. :( I've heard from many people that this is a difficult program to enter, but my family of course is behind me 100%, and all of them swear I will get in. I wish everyone else luck, though. So far everyone who has posted seems to have pretty good scores and GPAs, so I'm hoping the best for all of you.

Hey ivoryleola, my numbers are similar to yours. It just depends on what the applicant pool is like, like everyone says. I have a 3.5 overall, 3.84 prereq and 92 TEAS. So you're not alone! I'm also applying to the Seminole concurrent program and I feel more confident about that because it seems that the average GPA is a bit lower. Unfortunately I didn't realize they required General Psych as a prereq at Seminole until recently so I'm taking it now, but I could still get in. If UCF basic and SCC concurrent don't work out I'll just apply to Valencia concurrent for next spring. Not gonna stress too much! I hope everyone here can get into the program they want and not get too stressed out in the meantime!

Hey Butterfingers, I like how you know all your options! People seem to forget that they do have other options besides UCF, so it's not the end of the world. Everyone, please don't stress out too much!

Oh, I plan on applying to the Seminole program as well, but their opening for applications doesn't start for a little while. I would be ecstatic to get into either program really, but UCF would be the ultimate goal for me. Out of curiosity, has anyone here applied to both and been able to only do one back ground check? I know Seminole's program requires it as well, so I wasn't sure if I would need to do that or not, since I just began my one for UCF. I would assume you need to do both, but it stinks in a financial sense to have to do so. But if it has to be done, then so be it.

I was wondering the same thing about the background checks. From the way they word it on the information packet, it seems like we will have to do a second one since the results will be going to Seminole and not to UCF. I hope that's not the case but if anyone knows, that would be good to know.

Hey guys- sounds like all of you have pretty great scores! Fingers crossed that it's enough to get us all an interview. I am sitting at a 3.5 overall, 3.66 PR (with 1 left to go) and a 90.7 TEAS. I also just did the background check and fingerprinting, not too bad but it definitely takes a bit of time. I agree that it was pretty confusing because I definitely read somewhere that it said that would be completed after you were granted an interview, and then in most other places it says by the deadline. Good luck to everyone!
