UCF Traditional and Accelerated BSN-2014

Published

Hello!

The application window starts January 1st, which is a couple weeks away from now. I am excited to apply though and see what happens. Who else is planning to apply here?

I am planning on applying to both the accelerated and traditional pathways.

It appears I am on the low ball of the spectrum. I have a 3.77 overall with a 3.74 prerequisite GPA with just A&P2 to go. Hopefully 3.78 PR and after this semester. First shot at TEAS 82.7 . I was told that this is considered competitive but now I am starting to second guess that. I will probably take the test again to be on the safe side but it sucks to have to call out of work full day to take it :\

Hey everyone ! I'm applying to the basic program as well! My pre-req GPA is a 3.76 and my overall is a 3.54. I'm currently taking classes at UCF in their Molecular and Microbiology program until I get accepted into a nursing school. I took my TEAS awhile ago and received a 75 overall /: I'm hoping to get a higher score so that I can apply to the nursing program!

I got the same TEAS score. I am planning on retaking mine FEB 6, 2014.Where did you find that it was competitive?

I know the basic program accepts 120 students(right?) but does anyone know how many make it to graduation? 100maybe?

I called the UCF Nursing Phone #. I forgot who I spoke with initially but she referred me to someone else. However, she did state that 85-88 was competitive. When I told her my stats, she said that sounded competitive. Unfortunately the one I was referred to said the average TEAS score was 85 for the last fall cycle. Granted - that obviously means there was higher and lower TEAS scores admitted into the program. Considering you have a 4.0 both ways, I would be absolutely shocked if you didn't get invited to an interview even with an 82.7 TEAS score. It can't hurt to take it again but I think you'd be wasting money :p

I called earlier and they sad the same thing an 85-87 is considered competitive! Thanks for the information! Looking on here and seeing everyone's stats, it does make me a bit nervous!

Does anyone know how long it usually take for UCF admission to accept you? I'm realy worried I won't meet the feburary deadline :(.

Stats: 3.6 pre req

Cum: 3.627

Teas 92

Are you transfer or second degree? I applied for a second degree from UCF a year ago and it was accepted in 2 weeks. USF took a month tho.

Suzette,

Nice score on your TEAS test! When I applied to UCF 2 years ago it took approximately 1 week after sending transcripts. I think you should be more than fine given there is a month gap unless you are coming from out of state or something.

Hi Suzette- I'm pretty sure that I saw somewhere that if you hadn't received a decision but had applied already by the time the nursing dept. checks out your app, they will pull your application and make a decision at that time.. but, it couldn't hurt double checking that info. I think you will be fine as long as your application has been in for a while and they have all the materials.

Futuremurse and misslnd33- when you called about the TEAS, did they give you any idea of what a competitive gpa is? I've heard things all over the spectrum from 3.5 to 4.0...

Lexipark,

There was no definitive answer on that simply because competitive GPA averages are based on the pool of applicants. Until Feb 15th, there is no way for them to realistically answer that question. Each year is going to yield a different crop of GPAs. What I have gleaned from reading many posts on here and the previous year is that the order of import to admittance to an interview is: 1. Pre-Req. GPA / 2. TEAS / 3. Overall GPA. I have read that someone got admitted into the program with a 3.2 GPA overall, a 4.0 PR and 88 TEAS score. So its hard to pinpoint where you stand. Once they have narrowed it down in that fashion, the interviews are needed to further weed out people.

I wish people who are currently in the program would post their scores of what got them into the program so that we can get a vague idea what to expect. Although, I assume they are probably studying, doing clinicals, and sleeping; instead of reading these forums for the most part.

Future-Murse- Gotcha- just wondering what might have been the average for last year, etc. Hopefully all of ours will be enough! I'm sure you are right about the current class being a little preoccupied with things other than answering our questions ;)

Does anyone know if there's a benefit in completing all pre-reqs vs 7/8? I always wondered if there was a quota of current UCF students they admit/whether they do look at whether or not science pre-reqs were taken at UCF, etc.
