UCF Traditional and Accelerated BSN-2014
Does anyone that has been\is in the program have a recommendation on shoes, watch or any kind of items we need for the program?

UCF Traditional and Accelerated BSN-2014
I have already been to the UCF orientation a couple years ago, anyone know if you have to attend it again after you switched majors? Also, when do you sign up for the actual Nursing classes?

Misschloed, I was wondering the same thing. Thought it was a little odd that I haven't received one since I replied within 10 minutes of receiving the email. Anyone have any idea?

I just got accepted to the UCF Basic Nursing Program for Fall 2014! :) Yayyyy!! For those that are looking next year and want to gauge their competitiveness; my stats were the following: Prerequisite GPA: 3.88 |Overall GPA: 3.78 | TEAS: 82.7 . Best of luck to everyone else!

I am still waiting for the Basic BSN announcement as well. Was going to apply to USF but they require quite a bit more credit hours than UCF. Hopefully we will find out soon. (:

jv713, Thank you for the heads up!!! Sounds like you are having a blast :) I can't wait. How often would you say you study like hours a day/week? Also, would you consider clinicals exhausting or is it pretty relaxed to where the 12 hours don't seem too brutal?

Msfrance, Could you tell us what your experience was for the first two semesters? I hear the first semester is not too bad, a lot of busy work but the second semester is pretty tough. Could you elaborate on that? Also, do you have any advice for incoming students? What is the hardest thing you have had to do in Nursing school so far? Are the books crazy expensive? How soon till you start clinicals from when you enter Nursing school? Thanks in advance!

missind33, Do you know what their prerequisite GPA was who scored a 86 on the TEAS? Professorkeith, I hear you! I feel the same way about the TEAS. I am really good at english but when it comes to prepositions and the rules of the language, I never really "got it." I just memorized what looked right and have done really well in English so this test was difficult for me. I ended up scoring an 82.7 . It's so weird to see so many people score 88-92 with little to no studying and I studied pretty hard for it and came up short. I am hoping my TEAS with an 3.88 prerequisite GPA and a 3.78 overall will be enough otherwise I may end up having to go to USF *blehk* or perhaps Valencias/Seminole's concurrent program.

Ali Adela, You and I both scored the same thing on the TEAS - 82.7 I am also having a hard time getting motivated to take the test again. Luckily for you, you have a perfect prerequisite score and I have a 3.88 . (3.78 Overall GPA). Part of me feels unmotivated because I did spend so many hours studying for it just fall flat on my face or at least what I perceive to be a failure. It is also disheartening to see so many people able to walk in with only a couple days of studying or less and get an 88-92 on it. A good friend of mine I took Microbiology with didn't even study for it and got an 88. I took the TEAS at UCF and I know the scores are automatically sent to the University at no extra charge. I would also advise if you do retake the test - to try and take it at UCF in order to avoid any kind of issue. I am going to take it again but im also right in the middle of taking Anatomy and Physiology II which has a dissection and a test the same week I will be taking the TEAS the second time. Needless to say, I am ultra unmotivated to put in the hours studying for the test again and taking a whole day off work again for this test.

If you got a B at UCF for Anatomy I wouldn't sweat it. They know that the UCF A&P classes are head and shoulders more difficult than the Valencia ones are. They probably don't post the specific information simply because that would most likely deter quite a lot of people from applying; which seems highly counter intuitive.

Lexipark, There was no definitive answer on that simply because competitive GPA averages are based on the pool of applicants. Until Feb 15th, there is no way for them to realistically answer that question. Each year is going to yield a different crop of GPAs. What I have gleaned from reading many posts on here and the previous year is that the order of import to admittance to an interview is: 1. Pre-Req. GPA / 2. TEAS / 3. Overall GPA. I have read that someone got admitted into the program with a 3.2 GPA overall, a 4.0 PR and 88 TEAS score. So its hard to pinpoint where you stand. Once they have narrowed it down in that fashion, the interviews are needed to further weed out people. I wish people who are currently in the program would post their scores of what got them into the program so that we can get a vague idea what to expect. Although, I assume they are probably studying, doing clinicals, and sleeping; instead of reading these forums for the most part.
