Hello!
The application window starts January 1st, which is a couple weeks away from now. I am excited to apply though and see what happens. Who else is planning to apply here?
I am planning on applying to both the accelerated and traditional pathways.
I can't say for sure, they will also factor in the cumulative GPA and how you do at the interview. If you are invited for an interview you need to take it seriously. For us last year about 180 people out if over 400 applicants were invited to interview for 120 spots. Those that didn't get in we're wait listed. People commute from all over central Florida and your clinicals are scattered over the area.
Where do most of your clinicals take place? Do you think it would be smarter to live by the University or do you think that commuting isn't so bad? What did they ask you in the interview? Does your TEAS score mainly determine the amount of money through scholarships you can receive once accepted?
Clinicals are literally all over central Florida. There's a lot to factor in if you want to live by campus; transportation and the cost for rent is higher closer to the school. I don't want to tell you what they asked us in the interviews since we didn't have that advantage but I will tell you to keep calm and be genuine. Based on my experience thus far, scholarships I have been awarded are not based on teas scores. They look at your GPA, financial need and leadership experience.
I can't believe how few people are commenting on this thread. I'm in the class with jv and Katsmeow and both are great resources. We pretty much lived on allnurses for the six months leading up to interviews. If last year is any indication, there are probably a lot of guests reading and not posting. Join!
1. Relax, but don't relax too much. A little anxiety isn't the worst thing in the world.
2. Relax. I got in with a 3.83 prereq, 3.84 cumulative, and 88.7 TEAS. Some are higher and others are lower.
3. Relax. The interviews matter, but you don't have to be a professional speaker to do well. Think about potential answers to their questions and a few relevant questions you may have (HINT: it's unlikely they'll ask "why do you want to be a nurse?" and if they do, say more than "because I want to help people.") Also, dress professionally and modestly. The interview isn't the time for cleavage or to show off how amazing your legs or glutes are. Males, wear a tie and preferably a suit.
Good luck everyone.
Thank you,
I submitted my ABSN application and am running into an issue with the background check. It requires information that I don't possess (trying to get employment history from someone who's yet to be formally employed). A current student told me the interviews don't matter and that they've already decided the students before then. However, I am interested to see the break down of their admission process.

So you think if I made above an 85 on the teas with my 4.0 pre req GPA that i would be considered a competitive applicant? What is the program like? Would it be hard to commute out there everyday like do you suggest living near UCF?
