UCF Summer 2018 Second Degree BSN

Published

Is anyone else applying to the Summer 2018 Second Degree BSN cohort at the University of Central Florida? It seems like it is taking forever for the actual application to open up (January 1).

Hoping to see some other folks just as excited as I am!!

I had the same thing happen! I didn't realize it until a few days ago when I got an email from someone at the college of nursing saying that my essay was missing. They asked me to email it to them by midnight for it to still be considered. I did and everything is fine, I'm still in the running for the scholarship. If you email an advisor and explain they'll probably help you. I imagine this happened to a lot of people because of the strange format of the application :)

It makes me feel a little bit better that it wasn't just me, but I am assuming that they told you to submit by midnight because they extended the deadline to February 19th. In that case unless they push it further it will be too late for me. :( I checked my e-mail to be sure I didn't miss something similar to what you received, and I did not.

Samesies, SMRiley - I managed to catch it like an hour before midnight on the 19th.

To anyone wondering about orientation, I called today and a lovely woman told me that we shouldn't sign up until we (hopefully) receive acceptance letters! Right now we're only allowed to sign up for basic transfer orientation but we would have to attend a transfer orientation that is specifically for nursing students and is therefore currently unavailable to us. She said don't worry about spots filling up and we'll automatically get an email with a link to register several days after we're admitted and the system has time to update. Hope this helps!

Happened to catch a nursing advisor yesterday and we chatted a little about the program. She told me decisions were already done, but they're never released before the 6-8 weeks "just in case" and "so they can put all the mailings together and send them out at once." Made me antsy :p

Aaaaah I'm so nervous and excited! Hopefully that means we'll all find out on the 1st instead of later. Do they send out emails or just mail letters?

That's so exciting! I think they email us and if we're accepted we get a letter. Will our application status be changed before we get emails though? So close now!

That makes me really antsy as well, and now I'm wondering if that is why I wasn't contacted about missing the essay for the scholarship. I suppose it is what it is, at this point. I also wonder what they meant by "just in case" . Counting down til March...

You guys will find out on March 8th, that is when emails go out. Don't stress until then, I promise!

It will be congratulations , wait list , or denial. Be excited, but try not to stress! Right around the corner! Good luck!

8th?! Did the nursing office confirm that? The anticipation is killing me, I'm going to stay in denial and hope they send out the emails before then lol.

It's nearly always been the 8th the last few years, and I know who pulls the trigger and when! I'm not boasting, I just want to put you all at ease somewhat. lol. 2nd week of March. After that, people have 1 week (which is not a lot of time) to accept or not, and then those that don't accept will start giving those positions to wait listers.

If you are very low on the wait list, the email will essentially "kindly" tell you to start looking at alternatives. If you get that one, go apply to seminole or valencia concurrent asap for back up. If you get the one that says, there's a decent chance then you're high up on the waiting list! Don't call them to ask what number you are though, they will say "NO." lol. Hopefully all of you on here are "Congratulations!" though :D

Thanks for keeping us updated! Definitely helps to have an inside man ;)
