UCF Cocoa Beach/Daytona Spring 2013

U.S.A. Florida

Published

I am a pre-nursing student attending UCF Orlando Campus. I am applying this summer to Cocoa Beach and Daytona Campuses to start Spring 2013! Eeek! I know there have been other forums regarding previous admissions to the program that have helped me to figure where I stand. I thought it would be nice to have a chance to meet each other, talk about our scores, and answer or ask questions regarding the application process!

Wow, such great info! Thank you bsnmom023!

I just got in off of the wait list :)

Hi! I was put on the wait list also, but have not heard anything back. If you don't mind me asking, what is your GPA/TEAS score??

The new unforms are really nice, The pants are black with a drawsrtring waist and I believe they have the ucf logo on them. The tops are white and they have a gold and black stripe on each arm. They kinda look like football jerseys to me. Much better than the old ones. Were not required to buy them since we already have ours. As far as what you can do to prepare. Id say just take this time to relax and enjoy your families. You will be extremely busy the first semester and you definately hit the ground running, so enjoy your free time while you still have it!!

DRAWSTRINGS????!!! nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!

Did anyone else get an email that they were removed from ListServ? I emailed her my knights email and then I got that message so I'm not sure if she replaced my email or just removed me on accident.

Oh and another thing..if anyone is having trouble paying tuition and having to take out lots of loans...look into the onestop career center. UCF now contracts with them and if you qualify, you can get up to 2500 a semester. You have to live in Volusia/Flagler county and you must have a need...meaning they will only pay after grants and scholarships are applied and there is still a balance. For me it was great because I didnt qualify for pell anymore. Just thought Id let you all know. I was looking at having to drop so I thank God I found a out about it. Oh and they also give you like 80 dollars in gas cards every month too!!

Who is the contact for this, do we have to go to the onestop center or UCF financial aid dept? Jacksonville onestop had a similar program for nursing students at the State college.

Trust me they are better than the granny style elastic waisted pants we have to wear.

You have to call the onestop center closest to where you live. For me that was Daytona.

Thanks I will check them out next week. The silly fin aid people said juniors cant apply for the nursing scholarships on the nursing website until fall next year, cause we are not "officially" nursing students yet. We can only try from this list

Student Financial Assistance, UCF

however most of these scholarships seem to be for women getting into tech and engineering fields but its still worth a look. For those who have to leave work to go to school but the fin aid is based on 2011/2012 earnings we can go to a financial advisor in May 2013 to see if we qualify for more aid based on a reduction of family income. Hopefully some of these steps can get us to Summer 2014.

@bsnmom023Hello do you know if we would need to pay for fingerprinting, drug screenings & background checks before every semester? Its not really cheap ive been making a list of how much money to have each semester so any little thing helps

No, the cost of the fingerprinting and background check is only a one time thing. You do it all through a site called Certified Profile. You will have to update your physical, TB test and insurance before the Fall semester I believe. And you have to pay to renew your membrship to certified profile too buts its only 10 dollars.

The books are what get really expensive. And the extensive book list you will get is ONLY the first semester, You will have to buy more books each semester. What I have done is bought older editions and have saved a bunch. A lot of times you are being tested from powerpoints anyway. And you don't need to buy the Med Surg books on the list. You will not need those until you take Adult 1 next Fall... you could get them if you wanted to read ahead because it is hands down the hardest class in the program(many people fail out this semester) but you honestly wont have the time especially first semester..

Hope I havent scared you all to death, just want to get you all ready for whats about to hit you. Its very difficult but its very doable if you are dedicated, organized and have great study habits... See you all soon!

bsnmom023 would you say that everyone in your class is pretty close?
