Anyone else applying?
I live almost an hour from the main UCF campus anyway, so I don't think that Daytona or Cocoa would be much further. Thank you for the suggestion! I may call and see what I can find out. I just talked with someone at Keiser here in Orlando because I was thinking that might be a good back up. Can you believe the lady wouldn't even tell me when the next start date was and to get any kind of information I had to go to the school and take some test. And then before I could meet with the nursing director they claim that I need to pay a $55 application fee and a $145 registration fee. That's absurd!! I'm not paying a school $200 dollars just to get some information and a meeting with the program director! They must think people are idiots!!! I also talked to Valencia, but they have a year waiting list!! That's no good!! So I have no idea! I guess I'm just hoping for something at Remington or UCF!! I wish I was able to travel to different schools as you are! I would be doing exactly what you are! Applying to all of them! Unfortunately I have to stay here in central Florida! Good luck on the HESI and the GRE. I haven't taken the HESI but I did take the GRE. It's not terrible, I just hated the verbal part! They give you a bunch of huge words and want to you match it with it's opposite, but the choices are also huge words so it's not easy. I just studied the math more and did really well on that part to make up for the not great score on the verbal! It worked out ok. Good luck with both of them!!
I have not looked into the Keiser program, but that sounds ridiculous! That sounds very strange that they cannot even provide you with simple information over the phone. I don't see how they can expect people to go through all that without knowing anything about the program. Luckily, you are smart enough to run the other direction! At least if you get into Remington, you will be done sooner than you would at UCF. Hopefully Remington will work out for you!
I hate to admit it, but I did hang the phone up on the woman because she kept calling my "dedication" into question! I can't understand how they would expect you to pay $200 before you even know if you want to be in the program. I would like to report that somewhere, but I don't know where. There has to be something wrong with practices like that! Anyway, I don't mind that UCF takes a little longer. I think it is sooooo much cheaper than Remington, but also more competitive, so there are ups and downs to everything I suppose! Lets hope we get into good schools!!
Hey all, I just went to the orientation session on November 5th, and I will be applying to the program in Jan. 2011. I got in to Seminole State's concurrent program, but figure since I already have a Bachelor's degree, this program makes more sense. Hope everyone gets in!G.
Congrats on getting into Seminole. I was planning on applying to Seminole, but I do not live in the area, and I am not able to take a road trip in the near future to attend their required information session. I have just decided to apply to different accelerated programs throughout the state, since I agree that these programs make much more sense after already obtaining a bachelor's degree. Did you find the information session at UCF very informative?
From my experience with this program, I noted that there seemed to be more emphasis placed on prerequisite grades rather than GPA in the previous major. They also do take into account the degree of difficulty of the previous major and extracurricular activities. My major GPA was 3.2; however, the GPA of my prerequisites was 4.0. 300+ applicants for 60 seats. Yeah, I got in. Yeah, I graduated.
I have noticed a trend among my friends who are in or who have gone through nursing school that their grade point averages usually do drop while in their persepctive programs. This is something I am trying to come to terms with because I am sure it will happen to me as well. I am applying to UCF and FAU, and since FAU's program is even more compressed than UCF's, I worry it would have an even worse effect on my gpa.
Hi everyone! I'm applying to UCF's program as well. I'm also applying to Jacksonville University and USF. I really hope to get in at UCF though (evident by my name), because I got my first degree there.
I'm so worried about not getting accepted since so many people apply. What are everyones credentials?

I can't believe they won't even consider your graduate school grades! A 3.8 in grad school is really good. Do you know if Remington will consider your grad school grades? I had thought about Remington, but I really want to avoid paying private school tuition if at all possible. I applied to FAU's accelerated program as a back-up, and I somehow have to find the time to take the HESI this month. I might only get to study for a couple days, if I even find the time to take it. I am probably not going to pass if I do take it. I wish there were not so many different entrance exams utilized by the schools. I am probably going to go ahead and apply to UF's accelerated program as well. I have to take the GRE for their program, and I will probably do that in January. UF only looks at your last 60 college credits when computing your GPA, so my gpa will be higher as far as they are concerned. I hear the regular program at UCF Orlando is still pretty competitive, maybe even more so than the accelerated, but if you are up for the drive, the regular UCF programs in Cocoa and Daytona are supposed to be less competitive.
