I got my letter!!! I rarely post b/c I have tried to remain somewhat detached as I completed my prereqs. I know how competetive the program is and was fully prepared to not get the big envelope...HOWEVER...I DID! I am starting the accelerated program in June and am so stinking thrilled! I am going to be a nurse!!!
So has anyone else reading these boards gotten in? I know that the last couple of app cycles have had a lot of ppl posting on here but this round has been pretty quiet. I would love to hear from more of you...start a FB page, share in the excitement....I am all a fluster!
And if there are any CU students or grads who would be willing, will you post of msg me about what the first semester is like? I am eager to learn what I am facing :)
Good luck to everyone still waiting!
Well, this might not be true for CU, but my NS had all sorts of requirements for insurance on paper, but in the end all I had to do to refuse the school plan was to send them a copy of my insurance card... which ironically was for a defunct plan (I had just switched plans and not gotten my new card from the new company yet).
latest on insurance...I called yesterday and actually talked to a person. If you have a GROUP plan (which I have) they will consider it even with a $1500 deductible, But I had to write a Letter of Appeal including my policy, etc. etc. I'm off to the Post Office now to put it in the mail, definately worth the time to save $3000. I'll see what happens. I really didn't mean to complain about all of this as I'm more than delighted to be accepted but I had one week to get everything done. This came so quick I didn't have time to "research" anything. Again thanks for listening.
lyndxare you in the accelerate or traditional program? i am going to their traditional program in june, just want to know how stressful it is, and whether it's doable to work full time while going to school. thanks!
i am in the traditional program. i also came in with a lower gpa (3.1 i think). anyway, i personally am not working right now, but i think part time work is do-able, as you get further into the semester and know what to expect. however, at first, it is a lot of information and it can be quite overwhelming....as of right now, i can't think of anyone specifically that is working full-time. most students who were emt's or cna's are working 1 shift/week, with a couple who do 2 shifts on weeks with less content.
Does anyone have stats on how many applicants they get for the accelerated program, and how many acceptances they give out?
I was told there were over 1000 applicants for the summer 2011 program. Accepted-- Accelerated Program 20-25; Traditional program 100 and 9-10 in the Integrated Pathways Program.

I am glad you brought it up. I had no idea - totally didn't read the insurance section b/c I didn't think it concerned me. If I can't get around it, I guess I can't get around it. We have an excellent plan and I will try to dispute it. The good news is that 2K fee is an annual fee, and you can opt to pay it by semester for smaller payments.
Here is a link with last years waiver to show what you have to supply. Had no issues at my old university - I hate pointless hoops.
