Need help with University of Colorado Denver nursing essay
I can't answer that, but I have not met anyone that came in with less than a 3.0. When I said low I meant in comparison to the average GPA for students accepted. With the number of applications they receive, I would guess that they don't flex on that, but I don't know for sure.

Need help with University of Colorado Denver nursing essay
I like it a lot. CU Denver was the only place I applied and I got in first time around with a previous degree in psychology. I think its a quality program with a lot of resources and connections that other Denver schools don't have. The professors are some of the best I've ever had, and its half the cost of competitors like Regis or DSN. Do you know hwat kind of nursing you want to do?

Need help with University of Colorado Denver nursing essay
Hi JoJo...I'm currently a student in the BSN program and I thought I might be able to help. I can't tell you exactly what they are looking for, but I can tell you how I approached the essay. I was accepted with a pretty low GPA compared to the average so I think my essay must have been decent at least! I started out by googling critical thinking and getting a good idea of what it exactly was. Then I chose a scenario from a previous mental health employment and tried to focus on the different factors of scenario that could have led to good or bad outcomes (who else was involved as far as clients/staff, environment, safety), then using those factors I explained my thought process as to how I came to a resolution. Along the way, I also tried to add in how I directed co-workers to handle the situation (leadership), and came up with a resolution that was taylored specifically to the one client having trouble, while keeping other clients safe. Also, CU Denver is very much a research-driven environment. I think it would be beneficial to talk about any research you've done in the past somewhere in your essay (I think it used to be the 2nd question, but I'm not sure if it still you the opportunity to talk about previous experience) Good Luck!! I hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions :)

UC Denver Summer 2011 BSN!!!!!!!!!!
i am in the traditional program. i also came in with a lower gpa (3.1 i think). anyway, i personally am not working right now, but i think part time work is do-able, as you get further into the semester and know what to expect. however, at first, it is a lot of information and it can be quite overwhelming....as of right now, i can't think of anyone specifically that is working full-time. most students who were emt's or cna's are working 1 shift/week, with a couple who do 2 shifts on weeks with less content.

Anyone applied for UC Denver 2011 June start??
Its hard to say when notifications will come out as they have changed the application deadlines for applicants. I applied to the program for June 2010/Jan 2011 (it was one application for both start dates back then) and the deadline was Dec 31, 2009. After the deadline passed, I received an email saying that admission letters would come out in March 2010, but they were definately behind and letters didn't come out til late April, So hang in there!!! I'm sure they're on their way!!! :) Also, ***** was a HUGE help throughout the admissions process and definately will be once you get accepted because its a TON of information/things to get done before school even starts. She is very prompt with responses and will probably tell you whats going on with decision letters if you were told to expect them and still haven't received them by now. I know what it feels like to be waiting everyday for that letter...so stressful!! Anyway, Good Luck to you all!!! :)

still in school and need a job for experience
I also graduated with a BA in psychology and was trying to get into nursing school to get an accelerated BSN. In the two years since I have graduated, I have worked at a children's residential treatment facility with boys/girls who have been abused/neglected - lots of PTSD, ADHD, Reactive attachment disorders, and also worked in an all-female adolescent residential treatment facility where the clients' behaviors are more delinquent (conduct disorder, anger management, substance abuse). I applied only to one program - U of CO Anshutz medical campus - and was accepted first time around. I am still working in the all-girls facility PT, and hoping to work in peds further down the line. Hope that helps!!!

anyone applying to CU for 2010?
I applied for Summer 2010 Accelerated, but was given Spring 2011 Traditional. Its completely up to them and the only change you can request is from Accelerated to Traditional. The rest is "take it or leave it"....My letter came in a big white envelope with a lot of other forms like for background checks. immunizations, etc... For those of you who received call list letters - when I attended the information session, they said they almost always use up the whole list, so keep your fingers crossed!!!
