I got my letter!!! I rarely post b/c I have tried to remain somewhat detached as I completed my prereqs. I know how competetive the program is and was fully prepared to not get the big envelope...HOWEVER...I DID! I am starting the accelerated program in June and am so stinking thrilled! I am going to be a nurse!!!
So has anyone else reading these boards gotten in? I know that the last couple of app cycles have had a lot of ppl posting on here but this round has been pretty quiet. I would love to hear from more of you...start a FB page, share in the excitement....I am all a fluster!
And if there are any CU students or grads who would be willing, will you post of msg me about what the first semester is like? I am eager to learn what I am facing :)
Good luck to everyone still waiting!
Congrats to everyone who got accepted! I sent in my deposit/confirmation and am working on getting my vaccination records together; is there anything else that needs to be done at this point? I'm assuming they will be notify us when it's time to register for classes. I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything!
They look at:1. Grades
2. Prereq grades
3. Grades
And they might glance at the 1 page essay...
I actually have to disagree with that. I was told by others the same thing that CU would put a lot of emphasis on your grades. But I don't think that's the reason I got in because my undergrad GPA is below 3.0. I think they liked my experience, my accomplishment in grad school and my essay shows that I am passionate about what I do.
Well this is an interesting side topic of my acceptance to UCD. I went down today and paid my confirmation, drug and background check fees. Also got a titer drawn for the immunization records. Thought I was done with all of that.... got my registration information and JUST read that I have to pay an additional $2,352 for health insurance. I ALREADY have health insurance BUT it is a $1,500 deductible and UCD states that you can't have a deductible greater than $1000. I can't cancel my current policy because my husband is covered under it and he is very ill. Does anyone else find this stipulation of deductible rather ridiculous. I can not afford another $2352. for something I already have! Looks like I may be pulling out and losing all the fees I just paid today. Thanks for listening.
Well it's in the yellow packet entitled "Important Information for New Students Summer 2011". What is interesting about this is that I didn't see it anywhere on the website. It just mentions that you can waive their health insurance if you have your own; which I was planning on doing. This packet was not given to me until after I paid the confirmation fees, etc. I'm calling tomorrow but I don't think they'll give a hoot; I actually have VERY good current coverage through Anthem BC/BS so it's not like it's some goofy unknown plan!!! GEEZ...thanks for letting me know that you think this is crazy too!
Oh you're not going to like this.... "HSA's are not allowable": and....
there are a bunch of other requirements that your plan must have. I printed off a page a while ago and it says that the yearly fee is $3,099. however there is a High Deductible Plan for 2,353 BUT in the comments area it reads...$2,844. is the estimated cost at this time.... Ok, now I'm really confused.
Sorry to have shared this with you... You really have to search around the website to find any of this.

I wish I could tell you what they are looking for - I really have no idea. The way I wrote mine was to really answer the questions and give examples from my life. I think it's easy to get lost trying to guess at what they want. Take your time and try and respond to what is being asked, not something you think they want to hear. That is just my .02 - I have no idea otherwise. I can only imagine of all the ppl who get accepted that there is a great variation in what ppls essays are about!
