Congrats! I am a CU '08 grad. I am soooo happy got my BSN. I have worked as an ICU nurse since graduation, and can't believe how much I love nursing. Yes, there are days that suck, but overall it is the best decision I've made.
The hardest thing for me about nursing school was the lack of control over my schedule. I have two girls and a husband that travels. But we made it work. Have a good support system in place, and hopefully some friends who can pitch in and help on short notice if needed. I studied a lot, and it paid off. Sometimes I did not know my clinical schedule until a week or two before starting, and that was difficult for me. But realize there are some things you can't control... There will be classes/instructors/clinicals that you love and some you don't. Learn what you can from each experience. I got my current job from one of my nursing school clinical experiences (senior practicum).
If you go to the CU nursing website under faculty, you can see which teachers have received awards. Some of my favorites were Spencer, Armstrong, Makic.
Good luck to everyone! Hope you are as happy with your choice as I am.
Thanks for the post Scrapqueen! It is so good to hear from someone who has been through the program and is happy with the outcome! Right now I am having such a hard time envisioning what it's going to be like. I do school very well but I have no idea what the clinical side will feel like... I am excited to find out!!
It's fantastic that you were offered a job on the unit you did your practicum! I am hoping to have the same kinda luck
Congratulations!!!!!! I also got accepted into the June BSN program at UCD however I am not in the accelerated program, just the traditional. I cried when I read my letter lol! I didn't think I was going to get in because of how competitive it is and also I was hearing a lot of people saying they were rejected so it scared me! Do you know what the exact date in June is?

I got my letter!!! I rarely post b/c I have tried to remain somewhat detached as I completed my prereqs. I know how competetive the program is and was fully prepared to not get the big envelope...HOWEVER...I DID! I am starting the accelerated program in June and am so stinking thrilled! I am going to be a nurse!!!
So has anyone else reading these boards gotten in? I know that the last couple of app cycles have had a lot of ppl posting on here but this round has been pretty quiet. I would love to hear from more of you...start a FB page, share in the excitement....I am all a fluster!
And if there are any CU students or grads who would be willing, will you post of msg me about what the first semester is like? I am eager to learn what I am facing :)
Good luck to everyone still waiting!
